I absolutely love statistics! So I wanted to look into my 2021 stats, and thought I would share them with you!
In the year of 2021 I read 244 books! Don’t ask me how, I guess I don’t do much besides working and reading haha!
So let’s now go into my stats!
Author gender:

No surprise at all that I mostly read books from female authors, but I think it is a smaller percentage than last year! I’ve been getting more into adult fantasy, so maybe this will shift more next year!
Targeted audience:

I really like this division between YA and adult! I definitely read more adult then I thought!
Genre:

Of course Fantasy is my most read genre! I hope to read more sci-fi in the next year though! Also more thriller/horror!
Format:

I think this is a very nice distinction between the three!
Source

Most of my books I bought myself haah! I definitely read way less ARCs then last year, but they started to stress me out and I wasn’t enjoying them! So now I only request the ones that I really want, but those are often very popular so I don’t get them haah!
Series/standalone:

I was a bit surprised by the amount of standalones I read?! Since Fantasies are often series, but then I did split series and trilogies!
Rating:

Glad that more then half of my ratings are 4-5 stars!
Page count:

I really thought I read more longer books haha!
Release date:

I guess that’s it! Took me a very long time haha!

Love looking at your stats!! I think I mostly read female authors too.
Thanks 🙂
I’m a stats nerd too, so it’s really fun to see all your graphs!! I haven’t analyzed my 2021 reading, but I think I’ll work on it. For sure, I’d have way more female authors than male, and I think most of my books were in the 300 – 400 range… but other than that, I have no idea. Great post!
Thanks 🙂
I was actually quite surprised with some of these numbers!
It’s really cool that you’ve tracked all of these things! I’ve never tracked my reading stats beyond number of books read before, but you’ve inspired me to maybe take a look at some other categories this year. Happy new year! 🙂

I´m slightly obsessed.. ! I love filling in my excel document with the books I´m reading!
I love seeing your stats! Stats are always so much fun to me and it was awesome to see that over half your reads were 4-5 stars, that’s so exciting 🙂 I hope 2022 is even better for your reading, though it has pretty big shoes to fill with how inspiring your 2021 reading was, lol!
Ilove looking at them as well!
I hopen you have a great reading year!
That’s some very lovely looking graphs Evelyn!!! And I love how balanced all your stats are…
Thanks! I was actually quite surprised by the balances haah!
244 books is incredible!
Thanks 🙂
Great stats! It’s fun to see all of the numbers. I’m hoping to pick up more adult fantasy this year.
It is! I hope so to, since I really started to love them!
This is great to see. Maybe one day when I have time to update last year’s spreadsheet I’d love to see my genres and page ranges – I feel like I read higher page books too.
I try to update as I read, since doing it afterwards is such a pain haha!
