My thoughts:
This was a really fun and quick listen! I basically listened to the whole thing while doing my bullet journal!
Normally I listen to books on 2 times speed, but for some reason I could not do that with this one?! I got very confused in the beginning when I did that, so I started over and listened on 1.5 speed (which is still fine haha). I just did not expect me being unable to listen to a middle grade on double speed.
I really liked the mystery behind the Malamander and the disappearance of Violet’s parents! The setting was just great, this kind of closed of town, that is only visited by tourists in certain times. And this weird hotel with a lost and found department!? What hotel does have that haha!
I just feel like it was lacking some information or logic at some points?! But maybe that is just because I’m not the target audience!
I’m very curious what will happen in the sequel though!

My thoughts:
This was so much fun! I loved reading this one, and I was flying through it!
This book follows three sisters, who just learn they all ‘own’ one magical item, but that they are also cursed. I loved the magical items that were distributed over the three sisters and that they all could only use one. They are using these magical items to solve their curse. Throughout the book we learn the background story of the curse together with the sisters, so it is like we are solving it together! I loved getting the history of the curse! I really like the setting and all the characters! I’m very curious to what will happen in the sequel though!

My thoughts:
This book was so much darker than I had anticipated! It was actually scary at some points ahha!
The characters were very interesting! I liked that all three; Ollie, Coco and Brian, were quite distinct, but they really matched!
I loved that we got the backstory of the ghosts throughout the book, meaning we got to learn it together with Ollie!
I just really liked the atmosphere and writing of this book! I gave a bit of a lower rating for logic, since there were some parts that were a little bit ‘unrealistic’!
I’m very curious to what will happen in the sequel though!
I’ve never heard of the first of all these but I’m definitely intrigued by it. And I keep seeing the second in supermarkets and getting tempted by it’s cover it’s good to know you enjoyed the story though. And I so can’t wait to read Small Spaces!! It does sound creepy from the blurb but I wasn’t sure how scary it would get due to its target audience so it’s interesting to know it is scary at some points!!
I hope you will enjoy them as well! Small spaces was definitely more creepy then I had expected haha!
Oh I love when people do MG reviews! I have read Small Spaces and loved it. I have the other two books on my TBR and they sound like a great deal of fun. Really great reviews!

Thanks 🙂
I hope you will like them!
A Pinch of Magic has SUCH a cute cover! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for that one. I also just realized I haven’t read any middle-grade novels since Victoria Schwab’s Tunnel of Bones… so it’s about time I dive back in!
I’ve not read Small Spaces by Katherine Arden yet, but I loved her adult fantasy series so this one’s on my radar as well – I’m especially intrigued now that I read that you actually found it to be scary at times… 🙂
The cover is great!
I definitely recommend A pinch of magic, it was so much fun!
Loving The bear and the nightingale was definitely the reason why I read small spaces!
