My thoughts:
I loved this book from the start!
We read this book from multiple POVs, Serapio, Xiala, Nara and Okoa. Serapio and Xiala meet very early on in the book, and I loved reading from both their perspectives. They have to travel over seas to reach the city of Tova, but they have a pretty strict deadline. Xiala is the captain of this ship and this ship+crew is offered to her by the person who wants her to bring Serapio to Tova. Xiala should be the best person to do this since she is a Teek and has some magical powers. Of course she didn’t chose her own crew so this is bound to give problems. It was interesting to read this journey from both Xiala’s and Serapio’s perspective, since they both experience things very differently!
We also get the background story from Serapio, which was very intriguing. We slowly get to learn why it is so important that he reaches Tova before the deadline.
Nara is a sun priest living in Tova. Reading from her perspective was the least interesting to me. Probably because the story from Xiala and Serapio overshadowed her story. Although it did get more interesting near the end!
The last POV is from Okoa, we only get introduced to his PV halfway through the book. I did think his story was interesting but we didn’t get much from it. But with how the book ended I’m pretty sure he will become more important in the sequel!
I just could not put down this book. I kept wanting to start a new chapter, especially when I saw from who’s perspective it was told!
I rated the plot a little bit lower, since I got quite confused by the ending. I think I reread it three times and still am not 100% about what happened hahah!
I cannot wait for the release of the sequel in April! I now also really want to pick up her previous release, Trail of Lightning!
Awesome! I’m glad you liked it so much. I’ve been curious about this book.
I hope you pick it up and like it as well!
Great review! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I still haven’t read anything from this author and I need to fix that!
This was my first read by her, but definitely need to read more!
Great review Evelyn !! Glad you loved it
Thanks 🙂
