Let’s look back at the books that I put on my TBR, to see if I actually read them. On my TBR was:
- Crazy Rich Asians – Read it! Did not really enjoy it though..
- Godsgrave – Read it! Really enjoyed this one!
- What if it’s us – Unfortunately did not read this, but that was not my fault. The book was send out really late and I received it on the last day of October..
- Nyxia – Did not end up reading this 🙁
- E-arcs (for example: harmonies of war, the phoenix empress, a curse so dark and lonely) – Read one! I wanted to read more but that did not happen, maybe better luck next month!
- Lady’s guide to petticoats and piracy – Read it! And loved it!
- Kingdom of ash – Didn’t read it, but as I already said in my TBR, it was not really realistic. Also did not receive the book on time haha.
- A classic (some Dickens or a little princess) – I read a Dickens!
As usual let’s start with some stats!
I’m quite happy with the male/female authors! My ratings are literary all over the place haha!
So now for the actual books that I read:
Chainbreaker by Tara Sim. Rating: 3.5 stars!
I had to continue this series after really enjoying the first book! Unfortunately I did not like this book AS much as book one but it was still really enjoyable! You can find my full review here!
The phoenix empress by K Arsenault Rivera. Rating: 2 stars!
I got this book from NetGalley for review, so thanks to them! Unfortunately I really disliked the this book, and I was so sad about it since I really loved the first book! I just thought it was boring and did not care for the characters. See my review here!
The hidden oracle by Rick Riordan. Rating: 5 stars!
I was once again reminded of the fact that I absolutely love Rick Riordan! This is definitely my favourite series by his, and that’s why you will see the other book of the series in this post as well! My review can be found here! (It only describes how much I love it though..)

City of Ghosts by VE Schwab. Rating: 3 stars!
While writing this post I realize I read quite some disappointing books in the beginning of this month.. Not to say that this was a bad book, it was just not as good as I’m used to from VE Schwab. Full review is here!
Fullmetal alchemist 3-in-1 vol 3 by Hiromu Arakawa. Rating: 4 stars!
Not my favourite in this manga series, but still really good and cannot wait to continue!
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Rating: 2 stars!
I actually start to think I did not have a great reading month haha, another book I did not really like 🙁 The story contained to much detail and characters.. My review will be posted soon!
The silver mask by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare. Rating: 4 stars!
Yes finally a book I was surprised by! I did not expect to like this book as much as I did! I saw my ratings slowly going down for this series, but this boko took a good turn! Review will be up soon!
The revolution of Jack Frost by KM Robinson. Rating: 2.5 stars!
And we’re back again at the disappointing reads.. The premise of this book sounded really good, but it just was not executed well! ( Review will be up soon!
Astrophysics for people in a hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Rating: 3.5 stars!
This was an interesting read, and I feel like I learned stuff haha! I really recommend the audiobook!
To be read at dusk by Charles Dickens. Rating: 4 stars!
I randomly bought this in the story and started reading as soon as I came home. This was a nice and fun read, definitely enjoyed myself, and recommend if you’ve enjoyed other Dickens books or want to learn about his writing style!
A tale of two cities by Charles Dickens. Rating: 3.5 stars!
Two Dickens in one month! I read this on the recommendation of my roommate, since I still needed a (full length) classic for the month. I enjoyed it but it was not my favourite Charles Dickens
The dark prophecy by Rick Riordan. Rating: 4 stars!
Another audiobook I quite enjoyed! But I have to say that it was not as good as the first book. It felt a bit all over the place. As if the author couldn’t choose what he wanted to tell and just did it all. Will post a review soon!
Dresscodes for small towns by Courtney C Stevens. Rating: 5 stars!
This was a reread for me, and obviously I loved it! When I first read this book, it got me into contemporary more. But I’ve not yet found a book that topped it, so I just reread it haha. I’m thinking about posting a review for this one soon as well, so look out for that!
The earth, my butt and other big round things by Carolyn Mackler. 2 stars!
I read book 2 before this one, and really enjoyed it. But this book was quite disappointing.. Partly because I kinda knew what was going to happen, and partly just because it was boring..
Giant days vol.6 by John Allison. 4 stars!
I found out you can read graphic novels on Scribd, so I immediately had to read this one! This is not my favourite in the series but I still really enjoyed it!
The lady’s guide to petticoats and piracy by Mackenzi Lee. Rating: 4.5 stars!
I literary just finished this and it was amazing! I liked book 1 a bit better since that one was such a pleasant surprise, so for this one I had get high expectations! But still Felicity is the best! I will post a review soon!
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff. Rating: 5 stars!
Holy crap this book was good! Definitely my favourite of the month! I loved it so much more that Nevernight (which I already gave 4 stars)! I had less problems getting into the writing style of this book, it also really helped that this book was way more fast-paced! I cannot wait for the third book to release!
The burning maze by Rick Riordan. Rating: 4 stars!
Book 1 is still the best! I quite enjoyed this book, but I think I would have liked it better if I would not have read all three books back to back! So maybe it’s good book 4 is not yet released! My review will be posted soon!
Saga vol. 9 by Brian K Vaughn and Fiona Staples. Rating: 5 stars!
How can I wait for an unknowable time for the sequel after this ending… I absolutely loved this volume, it may be my favourite so far!
Spellbook of the lost and found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle. Rating: 5 stars!
I actually have not finished this yet, but there is one more day in October, so I’m convinced I will be able to finish it before the end of October! And actually I just wanted to talk about it, because I’m absolutely love it so far! I know I already rated the book, that is based on what I think right now, so it is possible that it will change later. I will also definitely post a review for this one!
Come talk to me!
