Today is my birthday #whoop ! This has nothing to do with the rest of the post haha!
There are always some books I’m ‘afraid’ to read! Either because they are long or because of the hype! For me some of them are:

- An ember in the ashes – Sabaa Tahir – This one is definitely because of the hype! I’ve waited so long with reading this one, and now I’m afraid I won’t love it like most others!
- The black prism – Brent Weeks – Mainly because many fantasy readers seem to love this one, but also because of its length!
- The demon king – Cinda Williams Chima – This world gets so much hype, and everyone seems to love it, so again I’m afraid I won’t love it!

- Half a king – Joe Abercrombie – Another fantasy series, that everyone seems to love!
- Girls of paper and fire – Natasha Ngan – Definitely because of the hype!
- King of the wyld – Nicholas Eames – Another book loved by fantasy readers!

- A discovery of witches – Deborah Harkness – I’ve heard many mixed things about this one, but it sounds very good to me!
- The city of Brass – SA Chakraborty – I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, what if I won’t love it!?
- The eye of the world – Robert Jordan – I mean this book is huge and this series is huge!
Hopefully someday I will have read them all!
Happy belated birthday, hope it was a good one!
Thanks! Definitely 🙂
Happy belated birthday wishes.
Books I’m afraid to read but also kind of want to – War and Peace and Les Miserables. The first because I think you have to pick a good translation and there are quite a few and the second (and the first as well tbh) the length.
Lynn 😀
Thanks!
Ooh same for me!! Those are very daunting!
Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Thank you 🙂
Happy Birthday, I hope you’re having a fantastic day (: I can definitely relating to be afraid to pick up books when everybody else loves them in case you don’t. Evelyn Hugo & Red, White & Royal Blue were both so popular that I’m kind of scared of not enjoying them and then having to admit that fact afterwards. But I have ordered the second of those in to the library so I am still going to check it out sometime. Hopefully soon although I can’t say for sure as atm all the copies are out and I have no idea how long the waitlist is. Evelyn Hugo I’ll probably pick up later this month or early next year.
Thanks, I had a great day 🙂
Evelyn Hugo is very good though (not only because of the name :p)
I’m also on the fence about Red, White and royal blue, since it is not my typical genre, but I am kinda curious haha!
That’s wonderful yeah I’m definitely going to check it out soon. Tbh I don’t read much contemporary lately but I used to love it and really need to try and get back into it. Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it if we read it. And I also hope that you love all of the books here if you do read them, a few are on my TBR too
Happy Birthday!
Thanks 🙂
Nice list Evelyn !!!! I have Brent Weeks’s books on my tbr too but I agree I’m scared… they seem pretty big and popular but I don’t know if they are for me
Yes exactly the same for me!
Happy Birthday, Evelyn! I absolutely loved A Discovery of Witches – hope you try it. The City of Brass and Half a King have been in my TBR for quite a while.
Thanks
I really should! I hope we will both enjoy them!
The Demon King has been on my TBR since forever but I haven’t read it until now haha! It sounds amazing and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the series, but it is a really long series and I’m scared to start
Exactly the same for me haha!
The length of the series is definitely one of the things that scare me ahah!
I have The Black Prism in my kindle (it’s been there a good, long while haha) but I still haven’t read it. I think I’m also afraid of the length but as well my own hype. I adored The Way of the Shadows and haven’t tried any of his other writing yet… hopefully I’ll get to this one soon! City of Brass always catches my eye at the library because of its cover. I haven’t read a review on it yet though… perhaps I should do that soon! Lovely post Evelyn!! Jen
Yeah I also hype books up for myself ahah! Can be very annoying at timea!
I’m planning to read city of brass, after the third one releases, so I can read them all back to back haha!
