What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
In the shocking finale to the
bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and
Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City
Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead
of the brilliant serial killer—or see their fateful romance cut short by
unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have
landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they
knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When
the two attend the spectacular World’s Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime
event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin
their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any
they’ve heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him—and
getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a
terrifying torture device—is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last
mystery to the end—together and in love—or will their fortunes finally run
out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

My thoughts:
I’m so happy we finally got all the answers, but I’m so sad it is over! I absolutely love this series, and I don’t think I mention this very often, but know that I do!
The reviews for book three were all over the place, people either loved it or hated it. Personally I loved it, but I can see why people didn’t since it was so different from book one and two. But then I saw people who hated book three, loving this one, and I got a bit worried, because what if that meant I would hate this one?! Well I was worried about nothing, because I enjoyed this one so much! Not a 5 star read, but very close!
I don’t even know if I can explain why I love these books so much. I absolutely love the characters. I mean everyone loves Cresswell, he is just perfect. And yes Audrey Rose is a bit stupid at times and not very nice to others, but that also makes her more real and relatable I would say. Also I love her uncle and grandmother, especially in this one! And then all the other less important side characters, they are all very good and fit so well in the story!
I took half a star, since I think the beginning of the book focussed a bit too much on the marriage between Thomas and Audrey, even though that was all nice and stuff, I was more interested in the murders haha!
Then there is of course the story line, which really kept me reading all the time, because I just really wanted to know who the murderer was, especially since this is already the fourth book!
But I think what I loved the most is Kerri Maniscalco’s writing style! I just love it and it reads so easily! I really cannot wait to see what she will write next, luckily she has a release planned in 2020!
I really need to read this series at some point, it looks right up my alley. Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes you should! It is so good!
I need to read this one but I just don’t want the series to end. Book #3 is my favorite by a landslide!
Not wanting the series to end was defintiely also my reason for not picking it up, but then my returning date to the library was coming up and I couldn’t reloan it anymore so I kinda had to read it haha!
I also really loved book three!
