My thoughts:
I was really doubting about picking this one up, but after rereading the synopsis and realizing it was about zombies/undead I just had to read it. I’m currently obsessed with The Walking Dead, so I just had to haha (they are not really alike!)
I decided to listen to this one on audio, and I really enjoyed it. The narrator fitted the story really well!
Jane McKeene was an amazing main character! She was so witty, went for what she wanted, and knew what she was able to do! At times she was a bit of an unreliable narrator, but I really enjoyed that!
Katherine was or other big character, who underwent a lot character development!
We follow Jane and Katherine first at a boarding school where they learn how to become an attendant for white ladies, but also how to fight zombies (Shamblers). Then, because of reasons, they move to this so called safe city, and loads happens there. And during all of this we see the friendship between Jane and Katherine grow!
This book really is non-stop action and I just could not stop listening. I often found myself being back from work and just kept walking through my apartment with my earphones still in, since I just wanted to continue!
One of my favourite parts of this story was the setting. This book is set during/after the civil war, but there are zombies. You have to be aware of danger everywhere you go. We have seen more zombie books, but I think the author took an interesting twist on this!
This book contains a bi and an ace character, both are more implied then named and does not impact the story in any way. I would also say that there is no to barely any romance in this book.
I’m definitely planning on listening to the Deathless Divide really soon!
I really enjoyed this book too and liked the protag. I still need to read the second book.
Glad to hear! I just started the sequel, so far it is really good but I´m not far in haha!
I”m also a fan of TWD and listened to this book. The narrator was fantastic! She was so good I made it a point to listen to book two also – same narrator. Hope you enjoy the sequel, Evelyn!
Good to hear! I’m planning to listen to the sequel as my next audiobook!
