First impression Friday – Dracula

This meme was created by Joe from JW Martin – Storeys of stories!

The rules:

  • Read firstchapter (or chapters if they are short)
  • Give my ‘first impression’
  • Predict my rating
  • After finishing it, compare the results 🙂

I’ve decided to do something different this time. I thought I would only include one book and tell more thoughts about that specific book. Since otherwise it kinda felt like a wrap up of sorts.

So this time I thought I would talk about Dracula by Bram stoker.

Title: Dracula

Author: Bram Stoker

Format: Audiobook

Genre: Classic, horror, paranormal, fantasy.

First impressions:

I’m so excited to finally read/listen to this classic! There are so many stories based on this book!

Also this is one of the first vampire books, so interested to see how they were back in the day :p

For some reason I did not expect this book to be in the first perspective, so it took me a couple of minutes to get into that. But besides that the start of this book is really interesting! I’m used to classics being really slow, but this book starts relatively quickly.

I’m a bit confused by the fact that the main character is male but the narrator is female?  (Later edit: there is more than one main character)

So far it is really interesting and I predict a 4.5/5 star rating!

Final thoughts:

I was close, ended up giving this book 4 stars!

I really loved the first 75% of the book, but the ending was too long for me. It dragged a lot and I started to prefer putting my music on instead of this audiobook.

But I definitely recommend this book to everyone! It is so cool to read one of the first vampire books!

Come talk to me!

Have you read this book? What did you think?
