So this time I decided to go with Far from the madding crowd, I always find it hard to review classics but I do want to say what I think about them haha. So I thought this would be a good solution.

See the synopsis for Far from the madding crowd here!

Title: Far from the madding crowd.

Author: Thomas Hardy.

Format: Paperback from the library.

Genre: Classic, romance.

Before reading:

I actually know nothing about this book. I mainly wanted it because the penguin clothbound edition of this book is beautiful! (unfortunately had to leave that edition back at home and read the one from the library).

I’ve heard a small amount of people say it’s good . So let’s dive in.

First impressions (2 chapters):

Oh I’m really loving the writing! And it starts off really interesting, but I’ve no idea what direction this book is going to take haha. I’m really liking the farming part haha. I’m liking Gabriel, not sure yet what I think about Bathsheba. Right now I will predict 4 stars!

After reading:

I indeed ended up giving this book 4 stars! Before I start reading classics, I always prepare myself for a really slow book, but this one wasn’t actually that slow 🙂 Stuff kept happening, and I did want to continue reading. Gabriel was 100% my favourite character! Bathsheba was an interesting character, some parts I really loved her, other parts I did not really understand her. Also Troy is an asshole, he was so mean towards Bathsheba! But I think that was kind of the purpose of his character. They only reason I took one star is because the middle part was a bit to long in my opinion. I’m excited to read more works from Thomas Hardy, like Tess from D’Ubervilles.

I would definitely recommend this audiobook for people who want to read classics!
