So this time I decided to go with the catcher in the rye. I honestly knew nothing about this book before I started it. I read on someone’s blog (I feel so bad for not remembering who..) that she got autumn vibes from this book. So I just decided to go to the library and pick it up, and oh boy I’m happy I did! I normally don’t do this, I’m someone who reads according to a schedule, picking something up randomly doesn’t fit in there ahah.

Title: The catcher in the rye,
Author: JD Salinger.
Format: Paperback.
Genre: classic, young adult.
First impressions:
So I immediately got invested in the story and forgot to write down my initial thoughts.. So here are my thoughts after I read 25% of the book..!
As I already said I was immediately invested! I had no expectations for this book, but this was still not what I had expected.
The main reason I got so invested is the writing style, I just absolutely love it, I can’t stop reading! The story feels kinda random, but I’m very curious to what will happen next.
I’m predicting 4 stars, maybe even 5?!
Final thoughts:
Guess I was close! I ended up giving this book 4.5 stars!
As I already said, this book felt so random. We just follow this boy describing the days between leaving his school early and going home. But I really did love it! The best thing, in my opinion, was the writing style!
The story almost becomes ridiculous, at times I would forget that we were reading about a 16 year old boy. Since basically he is just smoking and drinking most of the time. But I guess in the time this was written it was not weird to smoke while you were 16 years old.
The reason I couldn’t give this book 5 stars is that I didn’t like how he talked about some people sometimes. I think some comments he made (in his head, not out loud) were quite hurtful.
But all in all, I really loved this, and I need to buy my own copy of this book!
I am so glad you enjoyed reading this book! I loved it in high school and made the mistake of re-reading it when I was 30 years old. I hated it with the fiery passions of hell and left my copy in a coffee shop in Peru to get away from it lol
(also crossing fingers this works!)

It’s working!! Thanks for the great tip!
Haha omg, I should reread this in a couple of years, and see what I think then! Hopefully the person who found your copy in Peru enjoyed it though!
Hey there! I was talking to Kaleena and she hasn’t been able to comment on your posts despite trying. She is getting this error and I don’t know if it’s the site or her computer ♀️. (Trying to post a screenshot let me know if it doesn’t work.
Yeah I heard 🙁
It is my site, but I can’t figure out what is wrong..!
Im glad you enjoyed this so much (: I’m always wary about picking up classics and older books but I do have a fair few, this included I think, on my TBR. I hope you manage to get yourself a copy soon.
Same, I’m never sure if it will be very good or if I will end up hating it!
I hope you will love it as well if/when you pick it up!
