So this time I decided to go with The count of monte cristo! I recently read the Three musketeers, and quite enjoyed that one, so I was curious to more of his works! Since this book is quite long I decided to read a small part of this every day for approximately 2,5 week, so that I would finish it before I went on vacation! So it felt like I was reading this for forever, but I was also reading other things in between.

Title: The count of monte cristo.
Author: Alexander Dumas.
Format: E-book.
Pages: 1300.
Genre: Classic, historical fiction, adventure.
First impressions:
Since this book is quite long, and I read this in parts I decided to do my first impressions on the first part, which I think was 7 chapters (~75 pages)!
I really liked this start! It was quite easy to follow, you get an idea of the story, and it read quite easily! Not that these 75 pages say a lot about the story since it is only like 6% of the actual book, but I like that you already can see a bit of the direction that it is going to take! I know this book is long, but I have a feeling that I will fly through this! Especially because I split it up!
I will go with a save prediction, and go for 4 stars!
Final thoughts:
I absolutely loved the first 300 pages of this. Unfortunately I was not a huge fan of the other 1000..
I liked the idea of what happened in these 1000 pages, but it was just wayyyy too long. It is something that often happens in classics, if I’m correct they got paid by page number, so of course you want a long book.
I’m happy I read this alongside other books, I don’t think I would have enjoyed myself at all if I was just reading this book. Since it is just really slow, lots of ‘pointless’ conversations. I now sound quite negative I think, but I did enjoy myself! Just not at all the parts!
I ended up giving this book 3 stars! So I was a bit optimistic with my prediction!
The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books of all time. I guess when I read it, I didn’t find the length to be too much for the story. But that may be because I love the story so much I didn’t want it to end? I’m glad you still liked it despite the last 1000 pages not being as interesting.
Ooh that’s good to hear! And generally I don’t mind long books as long as I’m loving it!
1300 pages! I’m not sure I’d even be able to start a book like that. I’m intimidated just thinking about it!
Maybe it helps reading on my ebook, you don’t see how immense long it is hahah!
