What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
Georgette Castle’s family runs the best home renovation
business in town, but she picked balloons instead of blueprints and they
haven’t taken her seriously since. Frankly, she’s over it. Georgie loves
planning children’s birthday parties and making people laugh, just not at her
own expense. She’s determined to fix herself up into a Woman of the World…
whatever that means.
Phase one: new framework for her business (a
website from this decade, perhaps?)
Phase two: a gut-reno on her wardrobe (fyi,
leggings are pants.)
Phase three: updates to her exterior (do people
still wax?)
Phase four: put herself on the market (and stop
crushing on Travis Ford!)
Living her best life means facing the truth:
Georgie hasn’t been on a date since, well, ever. Nobody’s asking the town clown
out for a night of hot sex, that’s for sure. Maybe if people think she’s having
a steamy love affair, they’ll acknowledge she’s not just the “little sister”
who paints faces for a living. And who better to help demolish that image than
the resident sports star and tabloid favourite?
Travis Ford was major league baseball’s hottest
rookie when an injury ended his career. Now he’s flipping houses to keep busy
and trying to forget his glory days. But he can’t even cross the street without
someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then
there’s Georgie, his best friend’s sister, who is not a kid anymore. When she
proposes a wild scheme—that they pretend to date, to shock her family and help
him land a new job—he agrees. What’s the harm? It’s not like it’s real. But the
girl Travis used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman and there’s
nothing fake about how much he wants her…

My thoughts:
If you’ve been around on my blog, even only shortly, you probably know that adult romance is not something I often read. I think I read 3 Tessa Dare books, and that is about it. So I have no idea how I should review this, but I will do my best!
First of all, I’m so surprised by how much I enjoyed this! It was so easy to listen to this book, and not put it down for a long time. I think I listened to this in 3-4 sittings?!
I loved the characters, both of them were so interesting, and they grew throughout the book! Also their banter, it was the best! I really liked that we read the book from both Georgie and Travis’s perspective, in this way we got to see both their doubts and struggles. I liked that the book addressed doubts that most people have, like what other people think about them and their decisions.
I just love the fake-dating trope, seeing them try and lie to everyone, and secretly actually falling in love 🙂
I also quite enjoyed most of the side characters, and am definitely interested in their stories. I think we’re getting on in the sequel, so excited for that!
There was a part at the end, which was so predictable, also the reason I took a star. But I didn’t mind that too much because the actual ending was so good and cute!
I have to say I felt a bit awkward listening to certain parts while doing groceries haha! But I guess that’s what you get listening to adult romance!
I feel like I should read more adult romance now, if you know any books a bit like this one, please let me know!
You seemed to enjoy this more than you expected which is always a nice surprise.
Lynn 😀
Yes definitely! It is!
I loved this book, it’s just so much fun! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!
Thanks!
I actually loved this book too. I am a huge fan of the fake dating troupe and was excited to see it took place in a place that I grew up! I don’t read a whole lot of adult romance either, and I am sure you’ve heard this one already but you should totally try Red White and Royal Blue. It is a m/m romance, it has politics, and royalty and it was just so darn cute.
It is one of my favourite romance tropes!
Ooh that is fun!
Yes I’ve heard of thatone, guess I should try it out!
