- What is your fantasy origin story? (The first fantasy novel you read)
I honestly have no idea, I feel like I always read fantasy? Probably Harry Potter? But I feel like I’ve read some fantasy before that but idk, to long ago!

2. If you could be the hero/heroine in a fantasy novel, who would be the author and what’s one trope you’d insist be in the story?
Oof, hard one! Currently I would say Sabaa Tahir or Brandon Sanderson, but I feel like that can change quickly haha! Although maybe Sanderson would give me a very hard time throughout the book, without certainty of a good ending..
I wouldn’t mind having a Chosen one trope in my story haha!
3. What is a fantasy you’ve read this year that you want more people to read?
I was just looking through the books I’ve given 5 stars this year, there are not so many..
Some of the fantasies I gave 5 stars to this year are; An ember in the ashes, wicked saints, heart of flames and A torch against the night! So I guess those haah! Although I feel like many people have already read An ember in the ashes series and Wicked saints got some hype last year! The Crown of feathers series definitely deserves more hype though!

4. What is your favourite fantasy subgenre? What subgenre have you not read much from?
I’m not so ‘into’ subgenres, I just see it all as fantasy haha! But maybe just the ‘classical’ magic spells etc!
5. Who is one of your auto-buy fantasy authors?
VE Schwab, Jay Kristoff, Sabaa Tahir (she just moved up here!), Seanan McGuire!
6. How do you typically find fantasy recommendations? (GoodReads, YouTube, Podcasts, Instagram..)
Blogs and BookTube!
7. What is an upcoming fantasy release you’re excited for?
I was very excited for The gilded ones and Empire of the vampire, but both got pushed back a year, so their releases are quite far away now..
I’m also excited for Vicious spirits, The burning kingdoms, The silvered serpents and honestly so many more haha!
8. What is one misconception about fantasy you would like to lay at rest?
That you don’t have to read books from certain authors to be considered a fantasy reader! You don’t have to read the whole Game of thrones series, or everything Terry Pratchet and Robin Hobb!
Read whatever fantasy book you like!
9. If someone had never read a fantasy before and asked you to recommend the first 3 books that come to mind as places to start, what would those recommendations be?
Ooh that really depends on what they normally read of course!
But some that come to mind, Six of Crows, The bear and the nightingale and This savage song!
10. Who is the most recent fantasy reading content creator you came across that you like to shoutout?
I’m always loving the amazing reviews @Novel Notions!

It was kind of hard for me to pinpoint my first fantasy as well, I feel like I’ve always been reading it haha. Great answers!
Same! I feel like I never read anything else haha!
I love your answer for #8! I think Epic fantasy scares a lot of people off the whole genre, and its sad cuz there are sooo many different awesome fantasy books out there!
I feel like I ‘wasted’ some of my time reading GoT and not liking it at all, just because I felt like I had too.. But indeed there are so many amazing ones out there!
LOL I love that we both have the same reason for not choosing Brandon Sanderson. Poor guy. xD But he’s not necessarily nice to his characters, is he? Oh! I keep forgetting about Empire of the Vampire, because it’s been pushed off and my brain, for my own sake, has quarantined it so I don’t constantly keep whining about how long we have to wait for it lol. Definitely looking forward to that one, too!
Hahah, it is true though!
Ugh, the wait is horrible..!
I love this tag and your answers! Especially what you said about not having to read specific authors. Sometimes I get so frustrated when people find out I like fantasy and immediately jump to asking if I read GRRM, etc., and then acting surprised or annoyed when I say no. It’s okay to like different things lol! <3
The only reason I read the first three books from GoT is becasue I felt like I had too. Then I realised that there was no point in me reading them if I was not enjoying them!
