My thoughts:
To be honest, I have no clue what I just read..
The characters were weird, I didn’t understand them, their relation felt random, idk, probably I just didn’t get it.
The writing and the atmosphere was interesting. This closed of city where a monster lives, interesting! But what I don’t understand is that it felt like nobody knew of this monster, even though the monster made it sound as if he killed lots of people?!
I didn’t really care for the story, so that’s what plot, intrigue and enjoyment got a low rating!
There were some nasty and maybe a bit scary parts, but I wasn’t too afraid while reading this. But maybe that is because I was just not following/understanding the story..?!

My thoughts:
I absolutely loved Gods of Jade and Shadow, so I knew I had to pick this one up! I knew these two books would be totally different, and they definitely where! But boy did I love this! I just could not put it down, and without noticing I reached page 200 of this book! You know something weird is going on, and you just want to know what!
The writing is absolutely amazing! It is so beautiful and makes me want to read everything Silvia Moreno-Garcia has written before, and will write in the future!
The only reason why I’m not giving this book 5 stars is because the ‘dream’ scenes were a bit confusing, but I can’t say too much about them!
I really enjoyed the conclusion of the book, a bit hard to understand at times, but it did make sense in the end!

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, but I think it went on for a bit too long! There was so much going back and forth between camps, that at some point it started to feel very repeated.. In the beginning the wanting to know what was happening kept me going, but at some point that lost my interest, since it was just going on for too long!
I really liked the beginning and I definitely enjoyed the writing, but I think this book was just not for me!
I loved Mexican Gothic too! So different, and so well written. I haven’t read the others, but it sounds like I’m not missing much. I picked up a library copy of the The Monsters of Elendhaven, but after the first couple of pages, I realized I just wasn’t in the mood.
Yeah I think with reading Mexican Gothic you definitely read the best one of these ahah!
