Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books and Dani @Literary Lion, here different topics will be discussed.
This weeks topic is ‘blog scheduling’, I would say I’m quite an organised person, I plan my posts quite far ahead!
There are certain posts I do every week:
Monday: weekly wrap up
Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday and/or Top Five Tuesday (Unless I can’t do anything with the topic)
Friday: Let’s Talk Bookish (Unless I don’t have anything to say about the topic)
Saturday: Top Five Saturday (Unless I can’t do anything with the topic)
On the other days I post reviews and book tags or sometimes some other discussion or list posts!
And of course there are the ‘monthly’ posts; Monthly wrap up and TBR! Those will be posted at the end beginning of the month, depending on what other posts I have planned!
What I post on the days that I do not do a meme I try to plan one or two weeks ahead. Jup, I’m always quite far ahead ahah! But in that way whenever I have time to write something I can just look in my schedule and see what I can write! I generally do not plan my reviews, unless they are for ARCs. I will just write ‘review’ in my schedule, and once I finish a book that I want to review, I will fill in that title!
For me personally having a schedule, or at least knowing what I will post, makes blogging a bit less stressful. Since now, as I said, I can write a post whenever I have time because I already know what I will post! But I’m not very strict with my own schedule, I keep switching things around all the time. If I had a review planned, but haven’t finished the book yet, I don’t mind switching posts around! Maybe having a schedule really helps me since I want to post every day, and I’m afraid if I don’t have a schedule I can’t come up with posts everyday and will skip days. And that would make me more stressed haha! I know I don’t have to post every day, I just want to! What also helps with having a schedule for the reviews part, is that I know what photos to make! I like to include a photo of the book I’m reviewing, and also to post on bookstagram! But if I only know that I will post the review a day ahead, I might not have time to make the photo!
But I can imagine having a schedule can be stressful for others, especially if you really follow the schedule haha.
I really don’t think you need a schedule for blogging! It is just what works for you! You, of course, mainly blog because like it. So if a schedule stresses you out, there is no point in making one!
I thought it would be fun to show you how I schedule posts! I do this in a notebook, and I have a messy hand writing, so I hope it is understandable! This first photo is for three weeks that I have mainly planned already! (my pen kept not working haha)

So I first have the number of the week, then I write every day with the date! Next to it I write the post I want to post. And on the right I have three rows with boxes. The first I cross of when I have written the post (W), the second is if I have photos to include (P), and the last box is for when I have scheduled the post (S). As you can see under the actual days I wrote some days again, since I wanted to post something extra! And that’s where it becomes messy..

I thought I would also include a photo of a more empty page. This page was made a bit ahead, so that when I come up with something to post, I can immediately write them down!
I did not think I would have this much to say about this topic haha!
I’m a new book blogger/bookstagrammer and I am totally feeling a bit overwhelmed so thank you for your scheduling tips- will be putting them to good use!
I hope they are useful!
Yes, I am with you 100% on this–I also plan ahead and I use a calendar to plan out my posting schedule ahead of time. Those posts that I can pre-schedule I try to as much as possible because sometimes you might want a few days ‘off’ and this allows for that. Having to figure out something to post at the last minute is stressful!
Exactly! Or sometimes you unexpectedly are busy, so then it is nice if you have something ready to go!
Hi ! I just found your blog through let’s talk bookish ! And I am loving it….I love making spreadsheets for my reading and blogging both ! I even have a picture of them in my post …..I personally like posting on schedule as I feel it is less stressful……i feel relieved and satisfied that my post is done and ready to publish……but my schedule is not hard n fast …..so sometimes it does happen that I am a little off schedule

Ooh I will check yours out!
Same for me, knowing what is to come is less stressful hahah
I have a ‘theme’ for every day of the week. Some I do in bulk and schedule well in advance, others are done at the last minute or not at all, but my theme schedule guarantees that multiple posts a week get published.
Yeah having some kind of idea what to post definitely helps!
This is a great post, I love how organized you are! In general I post twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays; I used to post on Wednesdays too for Top 5 Wednesday, but now the meme is abandoned sooo not anymore. I don’t really have any set schedule on what to post on which day, but I do schedule my post early. The scheduling depends on my mood too though, sometimes I can write multiple post in one day and get a month worth of posts, other times I just couldn’t find the motivation or not happy with the result and decided to skip posting 🙂
I like having a schedule, so that when I’m in the mood to write, I can write many at once haha!
I have my schedule written out in a word document! I like being able to delete and move things around. Although I have a plan, I am flexible with changing it around if I need or want to.
Ooh that would be so much less messy haha!
I’m also flexible, but my notes not so much haha!
I have a planner I keep everything in!
It is so useful!
I like having a schedule too. I know some people say it stresses them out, but personally I know “I’ll post when I feel like it or have time” could result in my not posting anything for a month!
That said, my co-blogger and I originally had the idea I would post Monday and she would post Thursday and then we’d alternate a third day of the week or something, but we’ve been posting literally every day for like three years now so…. Though I still fill up my Mondays before scheduling other stuff!
I think not knowing what to post will actually stress me out haha!
I also did not intend to post everyday, but I’m also doing that for over a year haha!
I have kind of a loose schedule, but do write down which reviews will be posted. If I lose my calendar, I’m in serious trouble. I’ve been looking for something new to do – a new feature, but haven’t come up with anything.
Haha I would be a bit lost without my schedule as well haha! I hope you find something fun soon!
