Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books and Dani @Literary Lion, here different topics will be discussed.
This weeks topic is ‘Do you run a booktube?’. Short answer to that: no haha!
If you blog and booktube why do you do both? If you only blog why have you chosen blogging over booktubing?
I only blog. Before I started my blog I wanted to start a booktube, but I’m way to shy for that! Also I feel like I wouldn’t know what to say haha! So instead I started my blog, and I’m very content with that!
Although I do think I spend more time watching booktube than I do reading blogs! But then I can just put on booktube on the background, can’t do that with blogs haah. Recently there has been a trend on booktube with hosting live reading sprints, I’m having a good time joining those, it’s like you’re reading with friends!

Do you think one format does certain things better than the other?
I love watching reading vlogs, which won’t really work on blogs. Although I guess you could write out what you read every day, but I personally wouldn’t be too interested in reading those. Unless it’s for a 24h readathon or something, I like those!
But then I never watch monthly wrap ups on booktube, but I love to read them! Mainly because it is very easy to just scroll to the books I’m interested in reading about! Also some bloggers include stats, and I always love seeing those 🙂
Do you ever want to run a booktube if you don’t already?
I don’t know..
On the one side I would love too, but on the other it sounds like quite some work haha! I feel like for blog posts you can easily just write small parts in between other things your doing. But for filming, it is probably better to fill all at ones (depending on the video of course). And then the editing… I wouldn’t know how to do that haha. And then we come back to the initial problem, I’m still to introvert for this..
But I really appreciate all the booktubers out there! Since I love watching the videos!
I prefer reading blogs rather than watching booktube. One of my friends wanted me to start booktube but I am not comfortable being in front of the camera. Blogs are for my safe space and I think it’s going to remain like this.
My friend told me the same haha, but I’m not comfortable with it either!
I’m not sure how many people run both a blog and a booktube (or do so and manage to update both regularly). It seems as if it would take so much time! I agree with you the idea of a booktube is intriguing, but personally I don’t think it’s my skillset.
Doing both would be so much work! Depending on how much you post, you wouldn´t have time to actually read haha!
I find it easier to read blogs on the go, rather than having to commit to watching videos – it just works better with my lifestyle. I’m too shy to start a booktube too!

Defintitely! I do sometimes resd blogs during breaks at work, but I would never watch youtube in that time!
Last summer I run a workshop with a couple of UK based Vlogger and I was amazed to hear how much work they put behind every episode. Hours of recordings for just 15 minutes of video? Plus contents, editing, graphics… I have looot of respect for booktubers!!
Same! I think they work relly hard! But I do really appreciate it!
I completely agree! I would be too nervous and not know what to say in front of a camera! At least with a blog I can take my time writing out my words ♀️ I do enjoy watching booktube videos though
Exactly! It is way easier to rewrite a coupe of times, if you´re not happy with something!
