Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by J.R. @Eternity Books, here different topics will be discussed.
This weeks topic is ‘Favourite way of reading books’, I don’t really think I have a favourite way.. I mean all formats (physical, e-book, audio) have something good about them if you ask me!
Physical books are just the best, I love seeing the progress I’m making. And there is just something to holding a book in your hands! Also the smell of real books are the best! I guess the idea of reading a ‘real’ book sipping some tea under a blanket is just the best! It is just different with e-books haha!
I don’t have a preference between paperbacks and hardcovers, paperbacks are often a bit easier to take with you and less heavy, while hardcovers often lay open on their own which makes reading them a bit easier! But for in my shelves, I kinda love the mix between both haha!
E-books are mainly just very convenient! I love that my e-reader contains a lot of books and it weighs barely anything! Also if I just want to take my little bag with me, a physical books won’t fit, but my e-reader does 🙂 But what I do not really like about e-books is that you can not see the progress you’re making. My e-reader does give the percentage and page numbers and all, but it just doesn’t feel the same as seeing your bookmark slowly moving to the end of the book!
And for the
last format, audiobooks! I absolutely love audiobooks, I think since I
started listening to audiobooks my reading almost doubled! I listen to them all
the time, when I bike to and from school, in the gym, doing groceries, cooking,
when I’m scheduling posts! There are of course moments when I can’t stand
audiobooks for a couple of days and I just want to listen to music or watch
some Netflix, depending on what I’m doing. And then after a couple of days I
miss listening to a book and I will pick up another audiobook again haha!
But if I would have to choose between
listening to a book or reading with my eyes, I would for sure choose reading
with my eyes. I think reading with my eyes just gives me (even more) joy!

So conclusion, to me there is not really a favourite way, I enjoy all of them!
I love all forms of books but lately I find myself reading more ebooks than anything, I read on my phone and it’s just so convenient!
In that way you always have so many options for what to read haah! And it is light!
I can’t stand audiobooks as my attention just keep wondering, but I love physical and e-books equally! I love the physical weight and smell of physical books and I always love paperbacks, but I also love the convenience of e-books 🙂
Yeah I can imagine struggling with focusing!
Those points exactly!
I prefer e-books, because I feel like I’m always on the go, but ugh, the progress thing drives me crazy, too! I like physically being able to see how much is left, like you said. UNLESS it’s a long book. I prefer reading tomes on my Kindle, because I can fool myself into thinking that 50% totally doesn’t mean 400 more pages. xD
For long books ebooks are definitely better haha! Progress looks slow in the physical book and those are so heavy!
Indeed fooling yourself with those is great haha!
I think the big floppy paperbacks are my favorite, and I do prefer physical books over e-books…unless I’m traveling, because e-books are super convenient for vacations and such. Audiobook is probably my least favorite format, but that’s because I often don’t have enough time to listen to them, and I can physically read so much faster than I can listen. It might take 45 minutes to do a chapter in an audiobook that I could have read in less than 5. I’ve tried listening on 1.5x or 2x speed and I just can’t do it; I think all the voices sound like chipmunks. If I had longer than a 10 minute commute to work then I would probably enjoy audiobooks more.
Floppy paperbacks are definitely better then the ones you can hardly keep open!
For traveling ebooks are the best, I also mainly use my ereader for those purposes!
Ooh yeah I do speed up the audiobooks (but I can imagine it’s hard to listen to sometimes), cause otherwise it goes so slowly!
Physical books are my favorite.
I love reading physical books!
I’ve been trying to get into audiobooks lately! Great for having some background sound and ebooks are truly just the best when it comes to easiness!

Both are very good 🙂
I’ve become addicted to my Kindle! When I can’t sleep, I can read in the dark!
Ooh yes that is so practical!
