This was a weird reading month, read some really good books, but also books I did not really enjoy..
Also I’m surprised by the amount of books I’ve already reviewed!
So for starters, I read everything on my TBR! (Maybe because I only put books on my TBR I know I will read haha..). My TBR consisted of:
- Anna Karenina
- Warstorm
- Furyborn
- A court of frost and starlight
- Batman: nightwalker
So I like stats, so you will get some reading stats:
Annnnd now.. All the books I read + what I thought!
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Paperback edition. 3.5 stars.
This was a really original and weird story! In the beginning the weirdness was really confusing but I did really enjoyed it! But after a while the weirdness was not enough to enjoy the whole book. Which meant the ending was a bit boring. Check my full review here!
Tales of the shadowhunter academy by Cassandra Clare. Audiobook. 3 stars.
Some stories were definitely better than other, but you will always have that with short story collections. This collection was not necessary for understanding the world, but it definitely added something to the enjoyment! My favourite story was Born to Endless night, because Magnus and Alec <3 and the ending of Angels twice descending broke my heart..
A court of frost and starlight by Sarah J Maas. Paperback edition. 3 stars.
I really enjoyed seeing the characters back, but that is about all the positive things I can say haha..
Elain was my fave in this book! So nothing really happened in this book, they were just living their lives and ruling their kingdom. I did really enjoy the snippet of book 4 so will definitely read that!
Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken. E-book. 1 star.
So the whole time reading this book I was thinking about DNF’ing it, but I am not good at not finishing a book, afterwards I should have.. I just kept not wanting to pick this book back up, and when I was reading I kept finding myself doing other stuff (Yes you Harry Potter Hogwarts mystery)! So obviously did not like it at all, full review can be found here!
The wicked deep by Shea Ernshaw. Paperback edition. 5 stars.
OMG NEW FAVE!!! I loved this book so much! The whole thing was A-MA-ZING! It was so original, loved the writing, the characters, the setting and how everything wrapped up. And am 100% in need of more witch stories! Full review can be found here!
The smoke thieves by Sally Green. Audiobook. 4 stars.
Another book I really enjoyed! The beginning of this book was a bit confusing, since you read from 5 different characters, which makes it a bit harder to get into the story. But besides that, it was original, I loved the writing style. Also I really recommend the audiobook it has a full cast! My full review can be found here!
Batman: nightwalker by Marie Lu. Paperback edition. 3 stars.
This has a good concept, good writing style. I liked the characters, but it did not have enough action. After a while the story started to get a bit boring, but the ending was good! Full review can be found here!
Giant days vol. 4 by John Allison. Paperback edition. 4 stars.
I just loved this graphic novel series so much! This was another great volume, and I can’t wait till I read the next volume!
Take back the skies by Lucy Saxon. Paperback edition. 4 stars.
So this book has really bad reviews? But I really enjoyed it, it took me by surprise! In my opinion this was original story, and I liked the crew, world and plot twists. Was not a big fan of main character! Full review can be found here!
Charlotte’s web by EB White. Hardcover edition. 4 stars.
I can’t believe if never read this as a child.. ?! Also only saw snippets of the movie so did not really had a clue what this was about. It is an adorable story about friendship!
Furyborn by Claire Legrand. Paperback arc. 3 stars.
I definitely had too high expectations for this book! Spoilers in prologue?! Rielle’s stories repeats itself, so was a bit boring, which also means I preferred Eliana’s story! And the book was too long! Full review can be found here!
Sailor moon #1 by Naoko Takeuchi. Paperback edition. 4 stars.
Wow this was so cute! I do not read a lot of manga, and this seemed as a nice place to start! Volume 2 is currently on its way and I can’t wait to read it!
The oddling prince by Nancy Springer. E-arc from NetGalley. 2 stars.
Soo this book was boring since it had practically no action at all.. I enjoyed the fact that it has a male main character, and liked the relationship between the brothers. Full review can be found here!
The last ever after by Soman Chainani. Audiobook. 3.5 stars.
I again enjoyed this story and the world. I loved the ending and really liked how all the characters developed during this series. It sometimes did not really feel as a middle grade novel?! Also it was too long in my opinion, I think my favourite was book 1!
The star-touched queen by Roshani Choski. Hardcover. 3 stars.
For me this book was a bit hard to follow, partly because I did not really connect with the writing style. This kind of story we have seen before, but I think it was done really well! Also I did not really care a lot for the main characters. Review of this duology will be posted soon!
Anne of green gables: graphic novel by Lm Montgomery/Mariah Marsden. Paperback. 5 stars.
I’ve read the ‘real’ story and this graphic novel before, so this was a reread for me. I first read this graphic novel as e-arc from NetGalley, which means the drawing were in black and white. So I really wanted to read this story in physical form (thanks dad for the gift ). I loved this story again including all the drawings. I think this is a book I will keep rereading.
A crown of wishes by Roshani Choski. Hardcover. 4 stars.
I liked this book wayy better than book one! I cared for these characters more, which means I felt more connected to the story. It also helped that I read her writing style before, so I knew what to expect! Review of this duology will be posted soon!
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Paperback edition. 3.5 stars.
So this book took over my life for a while, what a giant of a book is this! I do feel really accomplished now that I have finished it! Since this is a classic I expected it to not have lots of action, but for a 1000 page book, it really does not have enough action. After 500 pages I was kind of done with it.. and the fact that at that point I was only halfway, did not make me want to pick does book back up. But I did, and I finished it, and did enjoy it, but would have enjoyed it more if it would have been shorter.
Simon vs the homosapiens agenda by Becky Albertalli. Audiobook. 5 stars.
This was another reread for me! And also another one that feels like I could reread it forever <3
I felt like rereading this after reading Leah on the offbeat, and also because the movie finally releases soon in the Netherlands! I decided to listen to the audiobook this time, and the narrator is really good! Definitely recommend! Also I ate a lot of oreo’s while listening to this book!
Warstorm by Victoria Aveyard. Hardcover. 3.5 stars.
I’m happy to say I finished another series! That always feels good! This book had a lot of war, scheming and betraying which personally I really enjoy! Unfortunately I did not care too much anymore about the characters since it’s already been a while since I read the previous books! I did enjoy Evangeline and Maven. Full review can be found here!
The hazelwood by Melissa Albert. Audiobook. 4 stars.
Wow this book was so much better than I had expected! I do not know exactly why I had low expectations?! But that only made me really liking this book. I liked the main character, the world, the story! Unexpected plot twist! (which actually seemed obvious afterward). I just had a bit of a hard time focussing on the ending. Will probably post a review soon!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire by JK Rowling. Hardcover. 5 stars.
Rereading one book each month until I’m through the series! And then probably start over haha
Loving it again! I always consider this one as my favourite! I just love all the trials! Also I love rereading this series, I keep learning something new each time, even though I’ve already read them so often!
Come talk to me!
