One of my goals this year is to read more from other genres then fantasy and science-fiction, that I also enjoy. Previously I talked about Mysteries and Middle grades I would like to pick up. In this post I would like to talk about some non-fiction books. I kinda struggle with finding non-fiction that I like to read, since I do not know what type I enjoy?! Most of the time I like reading (auto)biographies, for example Educated by Tara Westover, Becoming by Michelle Obama, Talking as Fast as I can by Lauren Graham and Furiously Happy by Janny Lawson. I also always listening to them on audio!
Some that I think I would like and want to pick up are:

- The Woman Who Smashed Codes by Jason Fagone
- Hunger by Roxane Gay
- Future Sea by Deborah Rowan Wright
- The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs by Steve Brusatte
- Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
- I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
- Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank (I actually want to read this one in Dutch)
- Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Born a Crime was great. Insightful and funny too. I heard the audiobook is wonderful.
I like nonfic but tend to lean toward either social sciences or art and literature.
Ooh more the opposite from me haha!
I don’t read a lot of nonfiction, but Born a Crime has to be an all-time favorite for me! I highly recommend the audiobook if you can, because Trevor gives so much of himself to the storytelling and it’s amazing!
Ooh good to hear! I prefer non-fiction on audio, so I would definitely take that route!
I don’t read a ton of non-fiction, but when I do, I tend to enjoy memoirs, sometimes science/nature books, and sometimes history (especially if about interesting women). If you like audiobooks, I’ve found that memoirs work great for me that way, especially when read by the author. You have some books that look great on your list! I’ve been wanting to read Born a Crime for a while now (and will probably listen to the audiobook), and I’ve been interested in Hunger and The Women Who Smashed Codes too. Enjoy!
I ‘read’ most of my non-fiction on audio! I love it when they are read by the author! It is why I enjoyed Becoming quite a lot!
I hardly read non-fiction but there are times I will pick one up especially if it’s an autobiography!
I enjoy reading nonfiction, though it can be very hit-and-miss depending on the writing style. I’ve read some nonfiction books that read almost like fiction, the style being much more literary than one might expect for a nonfiction book. I highly recommend Radium Girls if you haven’t read it yet, or The Devil in the White City.
I’ve read Hunger, and it was really good!
I’ve heard of Rdium Girls, that one indeed sounds interesting! I will put both on my list, thanks 🙂
I thoroughly enjoyed The Woman Who Smashed Codes, and listened to the audiobook version. I’d heard of William Friedman and knew some of his history, but I’d not been aware of all the accomplishments of his wife, Elizabeth, so it’s great to have this book show how much she contributed to field of code-breaking. I hope you enjoy it if it’s one you pick to read.
I prefer non-fiction on audio, so that is good to hear!
yeah it sounds very interesting!
I don’t read much, if at all, anything in the non-fiction genre. I need to change that though!
My goal this year is to read 6! I feel like one every two month should be doable for me!
The Rise and Fall of Dinosaurs has been on my TBR forever!
I hope we but get to it at some point!
