What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
The battle for the Crown has begun, but
which of the three sisters will prevail?
With the unforgettable events of the Quickening
behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once
the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after
discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret
talent work in her favor without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once
thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces
attacks like never before—ones that put those around her in danger she can’t
seem to prevent.

My thoughts:
I enjoyed book one, but I wasn’t overly impressed by it. But for some reason I was still interested in continuing the series, mainly because I quite enjoyed the writing style.
My main ‘complaint’ about book one was that there wasn’t much happening, and I kinda felt the same about this one. Yes there were definitely some action scenes, but for the amount of build up I definitely expected more!
Another ‘complaint’ I had about book one, was the quick changes between perspectives, which confused me. While in this book I really enjoyed that, since I think it really added something to the story. We really got to learn way more about each queen, but also their relation with other characters!
Another thing I really enjoyed in this book is the character development that we got. I feel like I got to know the queens way better. Also I love the relationship that start to exist in this book, and already existing relations that developed!
So basically I took a star because I think the action scenes could have been a bit better, for the reat I really enjoyed the book!
As I mentioned, I really enjoy Kendare Blake’s writing! I really hope it won’t take me too long to pick up book three, especially after the ending!
I really enjoyed book three because it was so much more action-packed. So much that was being built up was finally set in motion, and the ending is wild. I still haven’t read book four, partly because I’m so terrified of how it’s going to end, but I hope you enjoy both when you read them!
Ooh that is so good to hear! I just requested a copy at the library, so hopefully I can read it soon!
Yess, I hope we both love the ending!
The first book was very bland but I thought the series picked up after it! Although I wasn’t a fan of the last book.
Yeah this one was definitely better than the first one!
Oh that is not good to hear..!
I’ve had the last book in this series for months, but haven’t gotten to it. Hope you stick with the series, Evelyn!
I’m definitely planning on continuing soon!
