My thoughts:

Going into this series I knew it was more character-drive than plot-driven, and normally I prefer plot-driven books. But I still read it, and absolutely loved book one! Unfortunately I do not have a review for this one since I did not have my blog yet. I than continued with reading book two, and was so disappointed, I did not really like it at all.. (review is linked above). But since I did really love book one, I decided to read book three, but unfortunately I was again disappointed..

My main problem was that I was just bored.. The first book was character driven but it still had an interesting plot, for this one I felt like there was barely any plot and we were just following these characters in their ‘daily’ life (of course some stuff did happen).

There was this event happening in the prologue, which actually was pretty interesting, but then we moved 4 years later, and barely heard anything about the consequences of that event..

Another thing was that in this book we follow 5 (?) POV’s, which was quite a lot, and in the beginning I struggled distinguishing some of them. And since there was barely any plot and the characters were not interesting me too much, I was not liking this at all.

I know this review is a bit of a mess, but I don’t really know how to explain my feelings about this book..

The only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 star is because of Kip’s plot, some parts of his plot did actually interest me! I also do really like Becky Chambers writing!

Since I do like her writing I’m still going to read her coming release, To be taught if fortunate!
