What is it about? (From GoodReads)
In this third installment in the #1 bestselling Stalking Jack the
Ripper series, a luxurious ocean liner becomes a floating prison of
scandal, madness, and horror when passengers are murdered one by one…with
nowhere to run from the killer. .
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her
partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to
help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across
the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they’re delighted to discover a
traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic
young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly.
But then, privileged young women begin to go
missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire
ship. The strange and disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades
the decks as the murders grow ever more freakish, with nowhere to escape except
the unforgiving sea. It’s up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the
gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their
destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves,
can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer’s horrifying finale?

What I thought:
This start was amazing! You’re immediately into an action scene, and it was done amazingly! It really helped that you already know that characters, otherwise it would have been confusing!
And not only the first murder, but all of them were introduced/done really really well! In my opinion this book was way more mysterious than the previous books, and until the reveal I had no idea who did it!
This audiobook was Amazing! I kinda want to listen to book 1 and 2 as well, since it was done so well! The narrator fitted the story really well, and I could not stop listening!
Before I went into this book I some bad things, so I was a bit cautious. The main complaint I heard was that Audrey Rose acted weird towards Thomas. In the first half I did not notice this at all. But second half I really saw the problem, and also got annoyed by it. Audrey Rose had some kind of deal and totally started to ignore Thomas. And Thomas, the sweetheart, keeps trying and is so nice!
I struggled a lot with my rating, since the story was absolutely amazing! But Audrey Rose annoyed me so much..
Since I cannot wait for the sequel, which definitely means that I enjoyed this book, I ended up only taking 1 star for Audrey Rose’s weird actions.
I really hope the Audrey Rose is more enjoyable in the last book!
