What is it about?

This summery is copied from GoodReads.

In The Bone Witch, Tea mastered resurrection―now she’s after revenge…

No one knows death like Tea. A bone witch who can resurrect the dead, she has the power to take life…and return it. And she is done with her self-imposed exile. Her heart is set on vengeance, and she now possesses all she needs to command the mighty daeva. With the help of these terrifying beasts, she can finally enact revenge against the royals who wronged her―and took the life of her one true love.

But there are those who plot against her, those who would use Tea’s dark power for their own nefarious ends. Because you can’t kill someone who can never die…

War is brewing among the kingdoms, and when dark magic is at play, no one is safe.

What I thought:

To be honest I have no idea what I have listened too.. It was wayyy to complicated for an audiobook. And I kinda knew this already since I also listened to the bone witch, and thought that was confusing as well. But I did understand the first book, and kinda enjoyed it (I gave it three stars). So I knew it was a complicated book, but still wanted to listen to the audiobook. Otherwise I had to buy but the first and the second physical book, because that would look better than only having book 2. And to be honest I still want to own the books, those covers are gorgeous!

My main thought while reading this book was ‘What is going on??!’ or ‘I don’t get it..’.

There were parts that I did understand and really enjoyed! That’s also the reason why it did not get one star!

I was doubting a long time about DNF’ing this audiobook, but I ended up continuing, mostly because I do not to DNF a book.. But I have decided though to not continue this series.

Besides this book being really confusing, there were some other things that I did not like. After reading two books I still have a feeling that I do not know the characters at all.. Tea talks/thinks a lot about how she can read other peoples heart glass, and thus know there feelings, but we almost never hear anything about her feelings, which makes it hard for me to like her.

Also three male characters in this book are called Kalen, Kance and Khalad, I mean how am I supposed to not be confused by those names..

Let’s end on a positive note, I really liked Kalen!

Extra points:

1000 points for the covers, those are amazing. I’m still doubting about maybe only buying the first book since it is so beautiful!

Recommendation:

Do NOT listen to this on audiobook, I would advice to read the physical copy, maybe then the story is easier to understand!

Come talk to me?

What was a disappointed read for you?
