So this year I have decided to not continue on with some series.. Sometimes we start a series and we figure out it is just not for us! I will list the series I´m (most probably) not going to continue, but also list some that I’m doubting about!
Not continuing:
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi (read book two this year) – Loved book one, but really didn’t care for book two..
One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence – I like his work, but this series is just not for me.
The Wicked + The Divine by Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie – I have no clue what I read..
Spellslinger by Sebastien DeCastell (read book 2 and 3) – I really feel like I tried with this one, but I started to get bored while reading these..

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare – I think I’m a bit done with the shadowhunter world (unless we will get more Carstairs/Blackthorn, then I can be convinced haha)
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell – Controversial?! Really didn’t care for any of it haha
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young – I had no idea what I was listening to haha
Havenfall by Sara Holland – Not for me..
The Betrothed by Kiera Cass – Tbh, I’m not surprised with me not liking this one haha!

Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine – I probably would have loved this if I read it when I was younger!
Anna K by Jenny Lee – This was too much for me haha!
All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace – I really wanted to like this, but could not get into the story!
Alice by Christina Henry – I’m liking her writing, but this story was not for me!
Maya and the Rising Dark by Rena Barron – It was fun for what it was, but I have no interest in reading more.

Doubting:
Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K Le Guin (Read the first 3 books) – My thoughts on continuing this series change all the time haha, since I can not figure out my thoughts!
The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen – If I continue with this one I probably need to reread this one!
City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett – I really wanted to love this book, but didn’t but still want to haha. Honestly I cannot even tell you what this book was about right now. Maybe his other series is more for me!
A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow – Another one I really wanted to love, and those covers are gorgeous! I think I will just have to see what I do once the sequel releases!

DNFing a series is always hard, but it can be such a huge relief to let go of that commitment! City of Stairs is definitely hard to get into (though I ended up loving the series). I think Bennett’s other series, Foundryside, is much more accessible. You’re definitely not the first person I’ve seen love Children of Blood and Bone but bounce off book 2.
I think I’m going to read Foundryside, and if I love that I might try City of Stairs again!
Indeed not liking the sequel to Children of Blood and Bone is quite a coming feeling..!
All the Stars and Teeth I did not finish haha, Havenfall I got through (skimmed), also about 2-3 books from indie authors I picked up on Kindle Unlimited got DNF’ed.
Some books we just do not connect with ahah, not worth the time :p
Definitely agree with All the Stars and Teeth! I’ll be posting a very similar list on Friday
haha I will be looking forward to it! 😉
I respect you so much for DNFing! I only DNFed a single book this year lol.
I did not DNF the actual books, but I won’t continue on with the series!
Christina Henry??? Wow, I’m curious: I love her so so much. Have you read Lost Boy by her? I keep talking about it, its getting exhaustive, but it’s amazing!
And Chain of Gold? I haven’t read it yet, and now I’m nervous, cos I don’t want to ruin Shadowhunters for myself
I loved her Girl in Red!
But her Alice series is just really not for me! Definitely want to try out her other work!
I was never the biggest Shadowhunter fan, so I guess that also did not help haha!
I feel the same about Ink and Bone, All the Stars and Teeth, and Havenfall!
Glad I’m not the only one!
