So recently I read three books for my Goodreads Choice Awards challenge (see post here!). All three books are a bit outside of my comfort zone, so I’m not really sure how to review them, but I would still like to share some of my thoughts!
Title: Lock Every Door.
Author: Riley Sager.

Genre: Adult, Mystery/thriller.
Rating: 4.5 stars.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! For some reason I thought this was more of a mystery than a thriller but, to me at least, this is more of thriller! I honestly didn’t sleep for two nights.. (but maybe I’m just scared very easily!?)
I read this book so much quicker than I expected I would, since I was working the whole days. But I read this so quick for two reasons; I needed to know how it ended in the hopes I could sleep at night haha! But also the writing was so good, I honestly could not stop reading!
Besides me being very scared, to book was so good! I didn’t expect that I could ‘enjoy’ a thriller this much! The only reason I took half a star is that I wasn’t a huge fan of the way how Jules escaped the situation at the end!
I will definitely pick up Riley Sager’s other works, but I need some mental preparation first!

So.. This is the first poetry collection I’ve ever read. I never felt like reading poetry, I always thought it wasn’t for me. And I think this one confirmed that for me.
I don’t know how to read poetry. There probably is no rule to how to read it, but are you supposed to read them all after each other (don’t think so!?), but when do you stop reading them, because reading them one by one will take forever?!
You see, my first struggle was already a hard one hahah! Also to me it just reads a bit annoyingly that after a couple of words there is an enter?! I know that is how most poetry is, so I cause it is just not really for me.
This collection is book three in a trilogy, and I only read this one, so maybe that also didn’t help?! But I didn’t feel like reading all of them ahah! Also I’m not sure if I will read more books from this category..

I’m confused, some dates say that this was published in 2018? So how did it win in 2019?!
So to be truly honest, I expected I would hate this book. I just knew I wasn’t going to like it, and I was sure it didn’t deserve to win.
But I have to be fair to the book, it was definitely way better than I thought it would be!
I listened to this one on audio, and there were definitely some parts were I skipped over (you have a button to skip 30sec), because it was just to dramatic/romancy for me.
But I did really like Stella! I loved that she was fighting for her life, with such a beautiful thought behind it! I wasn’t a very huge fan of Will, since I just could not understand his reasoning for not taking his medicines..
Also the part before the ending was kinda sad 🙁 But you could definitely see it coming from far!
And the most important thing from this book was that it was very informative on CSF, I definitely learned some about how bad this diseases is! (also did some googling afterwards haha)
(Still don’t think this one should win, but we come back to that with my wrap-up)

I’m glad that you enjoyed these books! Recently I’ve been perusing the Goodreads awards lists as I look for book recommendations for my spring break — I just added Red at the Bone and Ask Again, Yes to my lists. I haven’t read any of these, but I have read “the princess saves herself in this one” and I also wasn’t sure how I should go about reading it. I loved Shel Silverstine poems growing up and I would read those books all the way through, but those were individual enough that they made sense even if I took pauses in between.
