What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
OVER THE WALL THEY CAME TO HUNT HUMANS. BUT NOW, A HUMAN’S GOING TO HUNT THEM. THIS GIRL’S NO ONE’S PREY.
In rural Wisconsin, an old stone wall is all that separates the world of magic from the world of man—a wall that keeps the shifters inside. When something gets out, people disappear. Completely.
Escaping from an abusive uncle, eighteen-year-old Charlotte is running away with her younger sister Anna. Together they board a bus. Little do they know that they’re bound for River Vine—a shrouded hinterland where dark magic devours and ancient shapeshifters feed, and where the seed of love sets root among the ashes of the dying.

My thoughts:
I really loved the first couple of chapter of this book. They were really vague but very intriguing! This is the part were Charlotte her sister just randomly totally disappears. No one remembers her besides Charlotte and this other kid. So Charlotte decides to go and find her. To do this she has to go over the wall to the world with magic. This is were the story became a bit confusing. I feel like the explanation part of the world and certain characters was a little bit rushed. This meant that it took me a bit to get into this magical world. But I got there after a while!
I did really enjoy Charlotte as a character, it was really good to see that she did not forget her goal. And kept looking for her sister, all throughout the book! Sometimes we see that the goal at the beginning of the book is forgotten about, but not in this one!
I’m not really sure what to think about Liam, another big character in this story. I feel like in the beginning he was more of this dark mysterious character, but made quite a change half way throughout to story, and was not so dark anymore?! But I enjoyed the relation between him and Charlotte!
I did really enjoy the world once we got past the confusing explanation at the beginning, and I’m definitely interested in seeing more about it in the sequel!
My main reason for taking stars is that it was a little bit rushed and confusing at parts. But I did really enjoy the overall story, and I’m definitely interested in continuing on!
Thank you so much for reading my book!
Thanks for sending it to me 🙂
Sounds like an interesting book even if it is a bit confusing at times! I like that the setting is in Wisconsin because that state is next to Minnesota where I grew up!
Haha maybe it will feel more familiar!
