I decided to binge this series since the third book just released! Then I realized there is a fourth book coming somewhere next year.. but I was already excited to start them, so I will just read the fourth book once that one releases!
I also just really wanted to read these since the covers are amazing!

My thoughts:
I did not expect to read this book as fast as I did! I flew through 80% of this book in one day and finished it the next morning!
This book is more character driven then plot driven, and normally I prefer plot driven books. But this one had a solid enough plot to keep me wanting to continue.
This book is being sold as a vampire book, and although there are definitely vampires, they are not mentioned a lot, at least in this first book. Probably because our main POV doesn’t know about them.
I loved the setting of New Orleans, it fitted the story perfectly. I mean makes sense it was chosen, but the way Ahdieh described the places and the settings was really good!
The plot and logic got the lowest rating since I think some parts were a bit repetitive. And sometimes it was not the most interesting. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. It made us get to know the characters even better, and gave time to them to develop their relations! Also I was quite intrigued by the story since I kept wanting to continue.
The plot mainly resolves around Celine and Bastien and their relation, but there are also people being murdered. And we know these murders have something to do with Celine, so we’re trying to figure out who is doing this, why this person is doing this and what Celine has to do with it all!
This book is set in a historical setting but it feels quite modern. We get in this space were men and women, people of colour and LGBT people are all treated equally, which was nice to see!
After finishing this one (and writing this) I immediately started the sequel, The Damned!

My thoughts:
I loved that we started to explore way more of the world in this book!
I enjoyed all the characters the same as in the first book. Although Pippa became very interesting to me near the end of the book, and I´m very curious to what we get to see of her in the third book!
The first book kinda ended in a cliffhanger, or at least makes you very curious to where the story will go. We definitely get more information about that in the second book, and certain things develop at the end. Which now really makes me want to read the third book! (Being very vague here because of spoilers haha)
I feel like the first book was really character driven, while in this book we started getting more plot, which I really enjoyed and definitely hope will continue in the third book.
Still loved the writing, still flew through the book, since I just wanted to know where we were going!
These thoughts are a bit scattered but I’m trying not to spoil anything. And also I want to write this quickly so I can start the third book haha!

My thoughts:
In the previous two books we mainly followed Celine and Bastien, as in they were the main POVs, we did get some other POVs as well. In this book we got Arjun and Pippa as main POVs and Celine and Bastien were more side characters. Which I didn’t mind at all. Pippa was one of my favourite characters already, and really started loving Arjun as well! I loveddd their relation development! The comments they make to each other are perfect!
I also thought Michael’s story was getting interesting in this one, I hope we get more from that storyline in the next book! It is kinda the storyline that already started in the first book, but it keeps being in the background. By now I really want to know where this is going!
Once again we got to see more of the world. In this book not necessarily locationwise, although we get that as well, but more the type of creatures that live in this world!
Again I was flying through the book, both because of the great writing, but I also just wanted to know what was going to happen.
These reviews are getting shorter by the book ahah, but it is getting harder to say something without spoiling anything!
The covers really are gorgeous!!
