What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
After narrowly escaping the fall of Rossarb, Princess
Catherine leads a rag-tag group of survivors into the barren wasteland of the
Northern Plateau.
With the Brigantine army snapping at their
heels, Edyon and Ambrose become separated from the group, while demon hunter
Tash leads Catherine and March to an unlikely refuge – the hidden tunnels of
the demon world itself. They soon find that the tunnels hold their own dangers
and, while Tash travels deeper, hoping to learn more about their mysterious
inhabitants, Catherine and March must return to the surface to resume the war.
But the world above is in turmoil. King
Aloysius’s army has captured the Pitorian prince, Tzsayn, and is poised to
overrun the whole country. To have any hope of challenging her father’s
tyranny, Catherine needs to form her own army, but when danger lurks at every
turn, how can she tell an ally from an enemy? What Tash discovers in the demon
tunnels could change everything, but if the message doesn’t reach Catherine in
time, the war might already be lost . . .
My thoughts:
I really enjoy this series, but because of the many POVs it is hard to get back into the story if it has been over a year you listened to the previous book!
But once I got back into all the different storylines, and their connections, I really started enjoying the story again!
I really liked the characters, some definitely more than others! Tash is my favourite and I really enjoyed the story between March and Edyon! Wasn’t the biggest fan of princess Catherine though.
I absolutely enjoyed the writing, just as I did in her previous books!
The reason for not giving this higher is princess Catherine and the time it took me to get back into the story!
Even though I listened to this on audio, I think reading it physically makes it more easy to follow all the POVs!
I know this review is very short, and a bit random, but I’m having a headache and a hard time writing this haha! I hope you will pick this series up though!
