What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
Life in Emond’s Field has been pretty boring for Rand Al’Thor and his friends until a strange young woman arrives in their village. Moraine is an Aes Sedai, a magician with the ability to wield the One Power, and she brings warnings of a terrible evil awakening in the world. That very night, the village is attacked by bloodthirsty Trollocs – a fearsome tribe of beast-men thought to be no more than myth. As Emond’s Field burns, Moraine and her warrior-guardian help Rand and his companions to escape. But it is only the beginning of their troubles. For Moraine believes Rand Al’Thor is the Dragon Reborn, and that he is fated to unite the world against the rising darkness and lead the fight against a being so powerful and evil it is known simply as the Dark One.

My thoughts:
I’ve been wanting to read this book for so long, it is always said that this is one of the most epic fantasy stories out there. So as a big fantasy lover, I almost felt like I had to read this one! Honestly I didn’t even really know what it was about. So a couple of months ago I finally picked up the audiobook, and this month I finally actually read the book. And I LOVED it!
The main reason why it took me so long to pick up this series is that it has 14 books and they are all huge. I was also a bit scared because of the fact that it is adult fantasy, so I was afraid the world would be very difficult to understand and would have hard writing.
Well.. I’ve learned that I was scared for nothing! The writing might even has been my most favourite thing about this book (most favourite, because I loved everything!). The writing was so easy to read, and I was flying through the book! The writing reminded me a bit of Sanderson’s writing.
There was also no reason whatsoever to be afraid of the world! (Although the maps were hard to see on my ereader, but that’s not the fault of the book). Jordan introduces every aspect of this book so smoothly! We first start in this small town, and we slowly start to expand from there. Same for the magic system and ‘magical creatures’, slowly more and more gets introduced. And I’m pretty sure we will get introduced to way more in the coming books! I loved the world and I can’t wait to learn even more in the next books!
Also, the characters! I honestly enjoyed all of them! They were all so interesting, distinct and I loved their interactions! I can’t wait to see more of them! There were quite some side characters that got introduced, and were out of the story again couple of chapters later, those I did not really care for honestly haha!
There was always something happening, and I just could not put the book down! As soon as I stopped reading I couldn’t wait until I could pick it up again!
If you’re hesitant about picking up this huge series, don’t be! It is 100% worth it in my opinion!
I started this book and got half way through, I was really enjoying what I was reading but I got distracted. I am going to try and finish this before the end of the year! great review
I hope you will enjoy the second half as well!
I really enjoyed this book and read it not long after it came out. I read the next couple then didn’t read any more until the series was done. Now my thought on the series are mixed and I fall into the group who don’t really like it. With this series people either love it or they don’t it seems. It’s a big commitment to read them all. I hope you love them.
Ooh sad to hear it wasn’t good all the way through for you!
Indeed I think people either reslly love it or not haha!
I also have this in my TBR. Hopefully will get to it one day. Glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you will love it!
Ahh, I love this series! I’m currently into book 3. It’s been a while since I picked it up, but I definitely need to get back into it!
Glad you love it as well 🙂
I REALLY want to read this … but such a large series feels so daunting … I might wait to see how you feel about the other books if you continue on ha-ha!
It does, but at least the first book is worth it haha! I hope to read the second one sometime soon!
I’m so glad you loved it! I started the series last September and I’m on the ninth book (I’ve been reading them as my bedtime books, so it takes me over a month to get through one). I am enjoying it so much.
Ooh I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying them as well! I just borrowed book two from my brother, so I hope to continue soon!
I think this is my dad’s favourite series of all time, and I’ve been wanting to pick it up for ages! It’s definitely not my usual cup of tea but it just sounds so good, and I’m glad to hear that you think it’s worth the commitment:)
Yes it is definitely worth it! I hope you will love it!
I bought the first book last year because I want to read the entire series. Then, I keep putting it off and now, I still haven’t read it yet. Gotta read it soon!
Glad you loved it!
Ooh you should! I kept putting it off as well, but I clearly loved it haha!
