What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
In 1875 Ohio, twelve-year-old Cap Cooper is an aspiring inventor—and a reluctant graverobber—enlisted by his father to help pay for his mother’s medical expenses. When one of the dead returns to life at his touch, Cap unearths a world of dark secrets that someone at the local medical school wants to keep buried. On the brink of discovery, he’ll have to use every ounce of cunning he has to protect those he loves most and save his own skin. The Grave Digger is an eerie mystery set in the aftermath of the Civil War, filled with action, friendship, and a hint of the paranormal, perfect for those who enjoy reading late into the night and long after the lights go out.

My thoughts:
This book started of so interesting, and it kept being interesting throughout most of the book!
It was a very easy read, I read most of this book in one sitting, probably because this writing is aimed for readers way younger than me haha!
I think this is a very good book for the intended group of readers! For me it was interesting but, it was slightly boring at moments. This I think was mainly because there were some plot twist that I could see coming quite easily!
There was also some talk about some magic power, but then it wasn’t really explored at all, which was quite disappointing. I mean I get why it was there, but since there was barely any explanation and exploration it felt a bit random. This is also the main reason for my rating, I think if it wasn’t mentioned at all my rating would be higher.
Probably I sound quite negative now, which is not true! I really liked this mystery part, and figuring out who was behind these grave robbery!
I really recommend this book for younger readers!
Great review! I think I want to try this one out some time soon because we don’t have a lot of spooky kids’ books in my library branch and I want to add more to our shelves. Maybe this one would be a good fit. 🙂
Thanks! It is definitely a good spooky kids book! I hope you will like it!
Great review!
Thanks 🙂
Oh, it would bother me as well if magic was bought up, but kinda left alone. I love magic in books so much. Great review!
Yeah, that was disappointing!
Thanks 🙂
