What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
Nahri’s life changed forever the moment she accidentally summoned Dara, a formidable, mysterious djinn, during one of her schemes. Whisked from her home in Cairo, she was thrust into the dazzling royal court of Daevabad and quickly discovered she would need all her grifter instincts to survive there.
Now, with Daevabad entrenched in the dark aftermath of the battle that saw Dara slain at Prince Ali’s hand, Nahri must forge a new path for herself, without the protection of the guardian who stole her heart or the counsel of the prince she considered a friend. But even as she embraces her heritage and the power it holds, she knows she’s been trapped in a gilded cage, watched by a king who rules from the throne that once belonged to her familyand one misstep will doom her tribe.
Meanwhile, Ali has been exiled for daring to defy his father. Hunted by assassins, adrift on the unforgiving copper sands of his ancestral land, he is forced to rely on the frightening abilities the marid, the unpredictable water spirits, have gifted him. But in doing so, he threatens to unearth a terrible secret his family has long kept buried.
And as a new century approaches and the djinn gather within Daevabad’s towering brass walls for celebrations, a threat brews unseen in the desolate north. It’s a force that would bring a storm of fire straight to the city’s gates . . . and one that seeks the aid of a warrior trapped between worlds, torn between a violent duty he can never escape and a peace he fears he will never deserve.

My thoughts:
Why did I wait with writing this review..?! I forgot most of my thoughts..!
I did like book one a bit more, probably because everything was new, and this time I knew a bit better what to expect!
I did still love all of the characters! A character that I really started to enjoy in this book was Muntadhir! And there were so many more side characters that I started to enjoy, and they broke my heart, all in different ways! And the betrayal! I feel betrayed by so many people!!
I really enjoyed the overall plot. But in the beginning of the book I wasn’t enjoying reading from Dara’s perspective, while at the ending I wasn’t enjoying reading from Ali’s perspective that much. Both their storylines were very important for the story and you needed to read them, but I was just looking forward to the next chapter haha!
I absolutely love the world, it was amazing in book one, and got even better in this one!
The writing is absolutely amazing, and I cannot wait for the conclusion!
I know this one is very short, but it is a sequel and I should have writing this sooner, so that I would not have forgotten my thoughts..
Glad you enjoyed this one! This series is so much fun. 🙂
It is! I can´t wait to read the conclusion!
I can’t wait to read this series, I’ve heard so many good things! Great review.
Ooh you should! Totaly worth the hype!
Just finished City of Brass last month, and have this one in my TBR. Glad to hear you enjoyed it just as much, Evelyn!
I hope you will love it as well!
