What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)
Tessa has heard her grandfather’s stories about the fabled
barbegazi since she was little. Now, after his death, she’s determined to see
the gnome-like creatures for herself and prove her grandfather wasn’t just a
confused old man.
When Tessa discovers Gawion, a young male
barbegazi, she’s overjoyed. She can finally show everyone that her grandfather
was telling the truth. But Gawion needs her help. His sister is missing and may
have been captured by humans. As the two form a friendship, Tessa realizes that
uncovering the truth about the barbegazi carries great responsibilities—and
sometimes things have to remain a secret.

My thoughts:
I enjoyed this book so much more than that I had expected!
It was fun, quick, interesting! I definitely recommend this book for younger readers and especially around winter time! Since this takes place between Christmas and new year’s!
We read the story from both the ‘human’ and the barbegazi’s POV, which makes the story very interesting.
Tessa has been looking for the barbegazi’s every since her granddad died, and all her classmates make fun of her because of this. Until one day she actually sees one, Gawion. Gawion is looking for his sister, who is taken by a human for research. Together Tessa and Gawion go looking for his sister to save her!
It is a very well written book, the ‘mystery’ was very good, I was invested!
I would say there were some details missing and the book was a book on the short side, but I don’t think that matters for the intended reader!
