My thoughts:
I randomly picked this one up, since I wanted to continue with the Elderling world. Next one would be Fool’s Errand, but I heard someone say that I is nice to read this one before. So I did! And I’m very glad I did, since it was very good!
I’m not very sure yet how this ties in with the overall Realm of the Elderling series, but I hope to find out once I continue! And even if I don’t it was nice to see some of the Farseer family from a bit longer ago.
Also I would just listen to this just for the narration. I don’t know how Robin Hobb does it, but all her books have amazing narrators! At least the ones I’ve read so far. This one was narrated by Rachel Atkins and I need to go figure out what other books she narrates!
I can’t say too much about the plot, since this book is only 160 pages long haha. I really liked that we read this book from the maid of the princess. It gave a really nice perspective, that we do not see too often! In the first part we follow princess Caution while growing up. While in de second part we follow her son, the Piebald Prince, also growing up. I did like the first part a bit more then the second part, but honestly both were very good!
If you’re reading the Robin Hobb books I definitely recommend checking this one out as well, since it is a nice addition to the world!
