Top 10 Tuesday – Favourite books outside my favourite genre

About the meme:

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish, but is now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl! The read more about this meme, look at this page!

This week’s meme is Books from my favourite genre, I guess by now you know Fantasy is my favourite genre. But lately I’ve been branching out to other genres as well. So it thought it would be fun if I would list my favourite books outside of my favourite genre (so no fantasy or science-fiction)! if I have a review for the book, then the title will link you to it!

  1. The wicked deep – Shea Ernshaw (Magical realism)
  2. We are okay – Nina LeCour (Contemporary)
  3. Dress codes for small towns – Courtney C Stevens (Contemporary)
  4. Daisy Jones & The six – Taylor Jenkins Reid (Historical fiction)
  5. Goldie Vance – Hope Larson (Mystery)
  6. With the fire on high – Elizabeth Acevedo (Contemporary)
  7. Sadie – Courtney Summers (Mystery)
  8. Spellbook of the lost and found – Moïra Fowley-Doyle (Magical realism)
  9. Orange – Ichigo Takano (Manga, romance)
  10. David Copperfield – Charles Dickens (Historical Fiction)

Damn, this was harder than I thought haha! I thought I would just go over all my recent 5 stars and list all the non-fantasy-sci-fi ones! I had to go all the way back to My 2018 to find 10.. Clearly I need to branch out some more (or read more 5 stars?!)

What are your favourite books outside of your favourite genre?

  1. I love your take on the topic! I wouldn’t have been able to pick just 10 from fantasy either. 😀 I’ve been hearing so many good things about Daisy Jones and the Six! Definitely want to try it sometime this year.

  2. Oooh I like how you twisted this week’s topic! I’d have to think about my favorite book outside of my favorite genres…

  3. I love how you looked outside your usual comfort zone and found great stories in other genres. I would say that the books I’ve loved that fall outside my usual sort of read are:The Things They CarriedGame of ThronesLonesome DoveZen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

  4. What a fantastic list! I love fantasy so the books outside that genre I like are typically contemporary like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, The Hate U Give, The Poet X.

  7. Apparently I need to branch out, too–I haven’t read any of these! Although a friend of mine constantly recommends We Are Okay to me, so I’ve been planning to give that a go for a while. I really like what you did with this week’s topic!

    1. Thanks 🙂
