I enjoyed making this list last week, so I thought I would do it again! This time Top 5 Saturday organised by Mandy @Devouring Books.
This weeks topic is Magical realism, which is a genre I generally really enjoy!

- The wicked deep by Shea Ernshaw (Read) – I think this is the first book I read where I realized that I really enjoy magical realism! I really should reread this book sometime soon!
- Spellbook of the lost and found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle (Read) – I read this book on a whim and absolutely fell in love! This one confirmed for me that I like magical realism!
- All the bad apples by Moïra Fowley-Doyle (Read) – I had to read this one after loving her previous book, and again loved this!
- The immortalists by Chloe Benjamin (To read) – I think this is magical realism?! I heard some people say that! I sounds good and I’m very interested in reading this one!
- Where the forest meets the stars by Glendy Vanderah (To read) – Another one where I heard people say it is magical realism, but don’t know for sure! It sounds good so I definitely want to give it a try!

Magical realism are usually a hit or miss for me, I generally enjoyed them though! My favorite read so far is the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater 🙂
Same for me! Ooh I didn’t even think about that one.. I love the raven cycle!
I’ve only read a handful of magical realism novels, but I loved the Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore. There’s something so atmospheric about magical realism and it’s always a genre I love to read on a rainy day. Lovely list. 😀
Ooh I’ve heard great things about that one! Really need to check it out! The atmosphere is definitely my favourite thing about magical realism!
Funny thing is I had The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle on my list and when going through my TBR I realized I had almost all her books on my TBR. I didn’t know her other books were also magical realism books until now. Glad to hear you liked her other books too! Hopefully I discover a new author to love! Also I have a copy of The Wicked Deep and I’m psyched to hear you loved it! Thanks for joining again!
I really loved the other two, so I need to pick up the accident season!
I hope you do too!
The wicked deep is honestly one of my favourite books!
All the Bad Apples and The Immortalists are both on my TBR – glad to hear you’ve enjoyed Moïra Fowley-Doyle’s work!
I hope you will too! And that we both love The immortalists!
I have a few books by Moïra Fowley-Doyle on my bookshelf that I need to get to soon. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed one of her books!
I definitely recommend them!
I tend to struggle with magical realism at times, but I really loved A Constellation of Roses last year.
Sometimes I struggle as well! Oh I will check that one out!
I so needed this post, stop reading my mind! I will certainly be looking into a lot of these. I love Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen, there is a second book in the series too!
