Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm! You can find more information here!
This weeks topic is ‘summer reads’! Which is great since I’m so ready to have summer! For some reason summer reads makes me think about contemporary reads, even though I still read fantasy all summer haha! But here are some contemporaries that remind me of summer:

- To all the boys I’ve loved before by Jenny Han – I feel like I haven’t talked about this series in a while, but I think it would be a very fun series to binge outside in the sun!
- The selection series by Kiera Cass – This is more like fantasy romance, but another one that I think would be so nice to binge outside in the sun!
- With the fire on high by Elizabeth Acevedo – This book just really gave me summer vibes haha!
- I believe in a thing called love by Maureen Goo – This reminds me that I should read mor from this author! This was such a fun quick read!
- Heartstopper by Alice Oseman – I just love this graphic novel series and need to talk about it as much as possible haha!

The Selection is a perfect summer read! It doesn’t require a lot of thinking and is just perfect for popcorn. 🙂
Definitely!
I have yet to read With the Fire on High but I hope to get around to it this year!
I hope you do! It is very good!
I loved With the Fire On High!!
It is so good!
We both featured Jenny Han! I do love To All the Boys!
It is such a nice fluffy read for summer!
The Selection is certainly light and girly, perfect for summer!
It is!
To All the Boys is definitely a good one! Great list!
Thanks 🙂
With the Fire on High reminds me of summer too, I think it’s because of the vibrant cover!
Definitely! And the fruit on the naked cover!
Contemporary always makes me think summer read. I’m not sure why since I don’t read a ton of them.
Same haha, I still read mainly fantasy in summer!
I haven’t read any of these books but I love the movie of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I think that’s probably a good cheer me up summer film. 🙂
It is!
I tend to reach for more contemporary in the summer too! Heartstopper is so cute, and With the Fire On High is one I’d really like to try.
I hope you will pick it up and love it!
I’ve not read any of these tbh. I’m trying to think of a summer read – probably Austen.
Lynn 😀
Good one!
