About the meme:
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish, but is now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl! The read more about this meme, look at this page!
This week’s meme is Books I got because of *blank*, I decided to fill the blank with ‘book blogs and booktube’. I thought I would first list 5 books of which I ‘regret’ getting them because of the hype online, and then 5 of which I’m very happy I got them haah!
Let’s start with the ones where I should have decide for myself:

- The ten thousand doors of January by Alix E Harrow – This was getting so much hype and everyone made it sound like it was amazing, but I just did not connect with the writing.
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – I actually DNF’ed this one.. I know this is many peoples favourite book, but I just didn’t connect with the main character and that made it very hard to enjoy the story.
- Gideon the ninth by Tamsyn Muir – Again so much hype, but I feel like I just did not understand the story or something..
- Leviathan wakes by James SA Corey – I think my sci-fi brain is not developed enough yet to understand this one.. I do want to try it again once I’ve read more sci-fi!
- This is how you lose the time war by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone – People made it sound as if this was the most beautiful book they’ve ever read (for them maybe!) But I just didn’t get it (again haha).

And now time for some that I’m happy I read because of book blogs!

- Wilder girls by Rory Power – I mainly pick this on up because of Lala @booksandlala on booktube (love here!) and I’m so happy I did! It is not for everyone, I know, but it was one of my favourite reads of last year!
- Sadie by Courtney Summers – This book, especially the audiobook, got so much hype everywhere, that I had to check it out. This was before I know I really enjoy YA mysteries, and this was one of the first ones I loved!
- Middlegame by Seanan McGuire – Another one I read because of Lala @booksandlala, and another favourite of last year!
- Lock every door by Riley Sager – I’m slowly getting more into mysteries, and everyone seems to love this one, so I had to check it out, and it was so good!
- An ember in the ashes by Sabaa Tahir – I probably would have read this at some point, but because of blogs and booktube I kept seeing this one, and finally picked it up, so far one of my favourites of this year!

Oooh, I love this topic–I’ve gotten so many books from bloggers! This is a great list too. 🙂
Those are the best recommendations 🙂
I finally read Ember as well this year and LOVED it. Can’t believe I put it off for so long!!
Sameee! I’m going to read book two so soon! Just got it out of the library 🙂
Great list! It’s always fun when other bloggers turn us on to good books.
Exactly!
I adore The Ten Thousand Doors of January! It’s one of my top reads of 2019! Great post BTW!
Good to hear!
Great idea for a post! It’s a shame that some of these didn’t live up to the hype for you.
Yeah I guess we can’t love all the books!
Great post!
thanks 🙂
That cover for Wilder Girls!! So striking! I still haven’t read An Ember in the Ashes. It sounds so good!
I love that cover!
You should I was so pleasantly surprised!
Great list! I read Am Ember in the Ashes because of bookstagram. It’s such a great series.
Yeah I’m so happy I finally picked it up earlier this year! I’m planning to read the sequel very soon!
Great list! I’ve definitely seen all of these books making the rounds lol. My TTT -> https://rabeeahreads.com/2020/04/07/10-books-i-bought-because-of-the-cover-ttt/
Thanks! Will check yout out!
I still need to read Wilder Girls! It’s sitting there waiting haha. Thanks for the post.
It is so good! I hope you will enjoy it!
I couldn’t get into Fangirl either. You’re not alone there.
My TTT .
Good to hear ahah!
I picked up Fangirl (along with Carry On) because of blogging too and didn’t enjoy both of them either haha!
I’m currently listening to Carry on haha, and I’m getting a bit bored by it..
Great post! Sad about ten thousand doors, but I totally understand with Gideon the ninth.
I really didn’t connect with eithe rof them.. unfortunately!
I tend to look for books first at the library based on recommendations. That’s especially true for me when a book is hyper-hyped.
Yeah the library is definitely a good option! No ´waste´ of money if you don´t like it haha
I’ve been thinking about listening to the audiobook of Sadie because SO many bookish folks online have said that it’s fantastic. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it!
Definitely worth it!
Great list! So many of these are on my TBR – I really want to try Leviathan Wakes so I can watch the show, and I’ve heard so many amazing things about Sadie that I need to give it a try.
I also still want to watch the show!
