What is it about? (Summary from GoodReads)

In a continent on the edge of war, two witches hold its fate in their hands.

Young witches Safiya and Iseult have a habit of finding trouble. After clashing with a powerful Guildmaster and his ruthless Bloodwitch bodyguard, the friends are forced to flee their home.

Safi must avoid capture at all costs as she’s a rare Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lies. Many would kill for her magic, so Safi must keep it hidden – lest she be used in the struggle between empires. And Iseult’s true powers are hidden even from herself.

In a chance encounter at Court, Safi meets Prince Merik and makes him a reluctant ally. However, his help may not slow down the Bloodwitch now hot on the girls’ heels. All Safi and Iseult want is their freedom, but danger lies ahead. With war coming, treaties breaking and a magical contagion sweeping the land, the friends will have to fight emperors and mercenaries alike. For some will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

My thoughts:

I LOVED this book! Why did I not read this earlier?! Why did no one tell me I would love this?!

I should read more books that are hyped, apparently that has a reason haha.

I absolutely fell in love with Susan Dennard’s writing! It fits the story so well, and I just did not want to put the book back down!

I loved the world, the characters, the magic system! I kept wanting to learn more about it all. All the characters are so interesting, and have depth! I loved the relation between Safi and Iseult. The bloodwitch was such an interesting character! And I really liked how he changed somewhat during the story!

I cannot wait to continue the story, after that ending! Tbh I already went to the shop before I finished the book to see if they had the sequel haha! They did not, I need to visit another store soon, so that  I can continue!

I know this is short, but I just loved this book, and have nothing more to say!

Have you read this? What did you think?

  1. I read and loved Truthwitch back when it was first released. Same with Windwitch, but I ended up waiting until long after release to read the novella Sightwitch. Susan Dennard’s writing is great, and I also love all the writing advice she gives in her newsletters. I do still need to read Bloodwitch, but I’m thinking I may do a series re-read before I do.

    1. Yes her writing is amazing! I can’t wait to continue!
(Still haven’t found the sequel in the bookstore..)
