My thoughts:
I’m so happy I finally listened to all the hype and picked this one up! It really is so good, and definitely gets one of the top spots in my favourite Middle Grades!
One of my favourite things in books, and especially in middle grades, is family relations. I loved how far Amari went to finding out what happened to her brother and trying to find him!
Another trope I love is the ‘chosen one’. I’m not sure if you would actually call this a chosen one, but it got those vibes. Amari who has never heard about this supernatural world, and kinda falls into it, learns that she has some special abilities. And people are very reluctant about trusting her.
I loved following Amari, it was such a joy learning about this world together with her. As I mentioned before, I loved how far she went for her family, but also for her older and newer friends! Besides Amari, the side characters were also very interesting. I really liked Elsie, she was so enthusiastic, and I really want to see more of her in the sequel! I also really liked the relation develop between Dylan and Amari.
I love trials/school settings in any book, so that aspect was just perfect to me. And together with the learning of the world and the mystery of her missing brother, this plot just was amazing. Since the book does have the three different aspects, it could have been overwhelming, but I think the author did a great job with balancing it all!
I binged this book in 24h because I just wanted to know what was going to happen. I didn’t even give myself the time to speculate about what would happen at the end, and it truly surprised me! I was shocked, and I need book two soon! Luckily it releases soon.
Honestly I have nothing but great things to say about this one, and I will recommend it to everyone!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! It was a favourite when I read it and can’t wait for book 2!
I´m glad I don´t have to wait too long haha!
I can’t wait for book two. I loved this one.
Same!
