My thoughts:
I really enjoyed the first book, so shortly after finishing that one I bought this book. And then proceeded to not read it for the next 8 months.. Which I absolutely do not recommend! This storyline and the characters are way too confusing for that! This is definitely a series that needs to be binge read! Even if there is a 10 page summary of the previous book at the beginning of this one, thanks to the author for that!
Characters. I think this was the main part that confused me. We read the book from 4 main characters, thee characters I knew and was familiar with from the previous book. But they were referencing so many characters, and things these characters did. That you either didn’t know about or I just forgot. This made certain parts of the story very hard to read. Reading from Davian’s perspective was definitely my favourite POV since I like his story the most. Reading from Caedan’s POV was my least favourite, since this was the part were loads of people were mentioned, making his part the most confusing! I do think his perspective was the most important though, since it gave us the most information about this world, and how we got to the place that we are!
Plot. The story takes place immediately after the ending of the first book. So, as I mentioned, it is very handy to read this quickly after book one! I feel like this book was a bit slower on the action part, but there was a lot of new information about how the Boundary came to be and what is on the other side of it! And I think because certain parts of the book were a bit slower I struggled sometimes with focussing on the book, which is why I rated intrigue a little bit lower! I think it was mainly the first 450 pages that were mainly heavy on the information dumping. The last 250 pages were more action-packed, and I was flying through those pages! I think I read all of those in one day! I do think this book could have been like 100 pages shorter, and I might have enjoyed the book more! But the ending of this book though.. I need to know what is going to happen in the last book!
I’m sorry for not saying too much on what is actually happening in the plot, but this is a second book in a series..
Enjoyment. Even though I did struggle with the information part of the book, I still really ended up enjoying the book! I will definitely read the third book soon! And I will not wait as long before picking up the third book as I did with this one! I should just not be too intimidated by the size of it, almost 900 pages..
