About the meme:
Blacklist blast is created by Milana from A couple reads and Flavia from Flavia the bibliophile! It is meant to talk about blacklist books, books that were published 6 months ago or earlier. This to remind ourselves why we wanted to read the book in the first place, or to share our feelings towards an old(er) favourite.

Title: The near witch.
Author: VE Schwab.
Genre: YA, fantasy, paranormal.
Release day: August 2nd 2011.
Summary:
The Near Witch is only an old story
told to frighten children.
If the wind calls at night, you must not
listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.
And there are no strangers in the town of
Near.
These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her
life.
But when an actual stranger-a boy who seems to
fade like smoke-appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that
at least one of these sayings is no longer true.
The next night, the children of Near start
disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion.
Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can
trust him.
As the hunt for the children intensifies, so
does Lexi’s need to know-about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime
story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about
the history of this nameless boy.

Schwab’s debut novel is entirely original yet achingly familiar: a song you
heard long ago, a whisper carried by the wind, and a dream you won’t soon
forget.
Why I choose this book:
This book was recently republished, because Schwab’s newer books do so well! So of curse I also had to read it! I think this was a very interesting one, it’s very different from her newer works. And I do prefer her newer books over this book, but I still thought it was nice to see her first published work! And see were it all started 🙂
I rated this book 3 stars, because it is very good. But just because I read her newer work already, I know she can do better! But I would say it is definitely worth the read!

I almost picked this up last month at the bookstore and then put it down again. I never read any books by her and I didn’t know if it was a good place to start or not. I get so worried when an author has a bunch of books and I have nothing to go on.
If you haven’t read any, and want to read all then I would recommend starting with this one, since it is her first works, and it gets better after this one! But if you would skip one, skip on this one! I definitely recommend her other series over this one!
I really want to read this sometime although I’m pretty sure my first book by the author is going to be A Darker Shade Of Magic and then probably City Of Ghosts.
I definitely recommend those and This savage song over this one!
I hope you will end up loving her work!
That’s on my TBR too (: thank you, me too as it all sounds so amazing. I literally can not wait for Addie La Rue to come out because it sounds so good but I really want to catch up on some of the authors other books before then.
Yes I can’t wait to read that one!
Right now I only have one VE Schwab book left to read (tunnel of bones)! So it is good something new will be coming 🙂
I hope you enjoy Tunnel Of Bones when you get a chance to read it. And I hope that we both love Addie La Rue then too
