So let’s go make one of the hardest posts of the year! My favourite reads of 2020! I’m going to list series together (so I can name more :p)! Also in general I’m not listing rereads!
Earlier this week I did a post with books that just did not make my top 10 favourite books! I made these two lists together, since I thought it would be easier, but I still struggled so much limiting to 20 books! (total of both lists).
Is this list going to be only fantasy? Yes, yes it is! No regrets!
So let’s countdown to my favourite read of the year (Starting this list is giving me stress haha!)
10. Pages & Co Trilogy by Anna James (Book 1&2: 5 stars; book 3: 4.5 stars) – one of the best middle grade series I’ve ever read! (I was doubting between this one and the farseer trilogy to put on here, what a comparison haha)
9. Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (5 stars!) – holy crap I loved this book! I loved the characters, the setting and the writing! I desperately need to read more from this author!
8. An Ember in the Ashes Quartet by Sabaa Tahir (Book 1&2; 5 stars, book 3&4; 4.5 stars) – I’m so happy I finally picked up this series this year! On the one side I’m like why did I wait so long, but also now I could read them all pretty quickly after each other!

7. The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan (Book one: 5 stars; book 2: 4.5 stars) – A very daunting series, but I’m so happy I finally started this! The books are big, but the writing is actually pretty easy to get through!
6. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (Reread book 1&2 this year, rated all three 5 stars) – I mean there had to be some Sanderson in this list haha! This series is amazing, I can’t wait to pick up book 4 soon!
5. The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by VE Schwab (5 stars) – She did it again! Schwab Confirmed being my favourite author! Especially because this one is quite different from her previous works, and I still freaking loved it!
4. Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco (5 stars) – Another author who confirmed being a favourite! I just absolutely love her writing! And her romance and I need the sequel!

Oof listing these 7 was already hard, but now let’s go into my top 3 reads of the year!
3. The Daevabad Trilogy by SA Chakraborty (All three 5 stars) – Another series were I’m kinda glad I picked it up so ‘late’, since now I could read them all pretty quickly after each other! The writing, the setting, the magic, the characters, it was all perfect!
2. Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb (Book 1&2: 5 stars, still reading book 3 but loving it!) – As I have often said, Robin Hobb has become one of my favourite authors this year! I cannot wait to continue my reading of her works next year! Still so many to go, and that makes me very happy!
1. The Poppy War series by RF Kuang (Reread book 1&2 this year, rated all 3 5 stars) – This series.. Perfection!

This was so hard! But that is actually a good thing, means I read a lot of amazing books this year!
I read Addie La Rue & Kingdom Of The Wicked last week and adored both of them. I have no idea how I’m going to wait until October to find out what happens next with the Wicked!!
There are some books on here that I seriously hope to finally get read this year too.
Some of my favourite books that I read last year are The Once & Future Witches, Mexican Gothic, Circe, Kingdom Of Souls and What Kind Of Girl
Glad to hear! And same!
I hope you will, since I obviously loved them 😉
Ooh I loved Mexican Gothic as well! I just got a copy of Kingdom of Souls, can’t wait to pick it up!
Thank you (:
Glad to hear it. And ooh I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your review of it if you write one
I still have the last Ember book to read, and I’m just so terrified, but also hella excited, so hopefully, I get to read it soon!
I hope you will love it!
So many great books listed, glad you loved these! I hope that I’ll get a chance to check out Gods of Jade and Shadow at some point, that one looks amazing.
I hope you do too!
Love this list! Addie LaRue was on mine as well. 🙂

I’ve had my eye on both An Ember in the Ashes and The Poppy War series for a while now so I think this year I need to get my hands on them. So glad that you enjoyed them!
