Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books, here different topics will be discussed.
This week’s topic is ‘the hype train’, but I honestly don’t really know what to discuss about it.. But I missed last week’s post, for which the topic was ‘bookish fandoms’, so I thought I would go with that one 🙂
To be honest, I’m not that big in any bookish fandom, as in I don’t collect things ‘belonging’ to a certain fandom. I do own some Funko pops, bookish candles and some small other things. Those candles and other things all come from fairyloot boxes! I really appreciate them, but I won’t really go out of my way to buy them..
I do really appreciate all these companies making these candles, bookmarks, art prints and many more things that I can’t think of right now haha!
The one bookish fandom that I definitely am part of is Harry Potter! I collect copies of Harry Potter and the philosophers stone in languages from countries that I visit! Most of my funko pops that I own are also from Harry Potter (3). Besides I’m buying all the illustrated editions, and I definitely own quidditch through the ages and Fantastic beasts and where to find them!

I know ‘belonging’ to a bookish fandom doesn’t mean you need to own stuff from that fandom! I just feel like it proofs my love for Harry Potter in this case haah!
I also just love how creative creators get when they are making something for a fandom!
When of the things Rukky mentioned in her topic announcement is ‘do you think fans can ruin the experience of reading it’. Which I think is difficult to answer, because in one way, yes because it could give you very high expectations for a book, which then could make you disappointed in a book if those expectations are not met. But I also just really love seeing others peoples love for a fandom, even when I’m not part of it!
Some fandom I consider myself a part of:
- Harry Potter
- A darker shade of magic
- Nevernight
- Illuminae
- Name of the wind
- The final empire
I’m not really sure if this was the point of this discussion (is this really a discussion?) but this is what I have to say about bookish fandoms haha!
I was never really a big part of any book fandom, although I did read a few Harry Potter fanfics back in the day. I think my fandoms leaned more towards anime when I was into fandoms lol. Nowdays I consider myself just a general SFF fan. 🙂
Yeah I think I’m a general SFF fan as well haha!
The Raven Cycle is one I am heavy in. Not much else, except HP of course!! Unless we’re counting movies too, in which case I am all in for the MCU.
Ooh Raven cycle is also such a good one! I love seeing all the fan art!
Great post! I’m not sure if I’m part of any fandoms as I don’t know what being part of a fandom means really as it kind of seems more than just liking a particular series (maybe that means I’m not haha). Series that spring to mind for me would be Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Shadowhunters and Grishaverse.
I think that is my problem too! How are you part of a fandom haha!
Ooh yeah grishaverse for me as well!
I’m obsessed with The Wheel of Time series! But besides the books, I don’t own any bookish merchs from the fandom!
Oh I really hope to start on that series this year!
Great post! I immediately thought of Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, but I’m also obsessed with Star Wars and Les Miserables. However, I never considered myself part of a fandom. 🙂
Haha apparently that is a common feeling!
Haha, great post Evelyn and thank you for participating!! It’s totally a discussion though, because you are discussing it! I actually didn’t know that A Darker Shade of Magic had a fandom, so that’s interesting. I also really love seeing other people in their fandoms even though I don’t think that I’m part of any
Haha thanks!
We’re fan of fans :p
I also don’t buy any bookish related things so I find it hard to consider myself part of any ‘fandom’ as well! I would say I’m like you and definitely see myself as part of the Harry Potter fandom in some little way!
I’m not sure I’m part of any other fandom to be honest, I’m not even really sure how to be a part of one! I consider myself to be more into books and the book community rather than any special niche fandom community if that makes sense?
I think that is my struggle too, How are you part of a fandom haha!
Same! I’m just a fan of books, is that a fandom?
Harry Potter! Have my house sticker (Gryffindor) on my laptop.
Hahah Yes!
