Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books and Dani @Literary Lion, here different topics will be discussed.
This week’s topic is ‘Do you use an online persona’, and honestly I do not really have much to say about this topic..
I feel like I’m the same online as I am in the ‘real’ world!
Personally I feel like it would be exhausting having to ‘be’ someone else online!
But then maybe you need to escape the real world and just want to be someone else?! In that case it might be nice to be whoever you want online?! As long as you’re not causing harm to anyone it should be fine haha!
The questions the hosts gave as example:
Why Do (or Don’t) you Blog About Your Personal Life on your Bookish Blog?
I do give small life updates in my weekly wrap ups, since I’m talking about my past week. But often they’re just small sentences, since I don’t feel like much interesting happens in my life haha! But when I moved abroad, which of course is a big life change, I did do a post about it. Just because I was excited about it and wanted to share my excitement hahah! I also did some posts about some vacations I went on! Again just because I wanted to share my excitement!
The main reason why I do not talk that much about my personal life is just because not that much interesting is happening haha.

Are there certain things you share and others you don’t?
I basically just answered this haha! I just share the things I think people might be interesting in reading (that are not bookish)!
To what extent, if any, do you try to separate your bookish online persona from what you do with the rest of your time?
Not haha. I mainly work, read and blog.. So there is not that much separation..! That sounds sad :p
I do do social things once in a while hahah
Do you think book blogs should focus on being book blogs and not veer into other territory?
Not at all! I’m a way too curious person! I love to read what people do besides reading! Like of course there should be book related things, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have come on that blog anyway, but I don’t think posts should be limited to books/reading!
I feel the same — I don’t really have an online persona — I am who I am. It’s too exhausting to be another person ha-ha! I don’t share my life story on Instagram or my account, but I share a few things that I’m comfortable with and make sense to share. But I’m like that in real life. Really interesting tag!
Exactly! I do the same, I just share the things I want to, but keep others to myself!
I definitely agree that I think it’s too difficult to be someone else online! I’m totally myself, even if there are plenty of things that I don’t share on my blog. I’m not really hiding anything but, like you, there’s usually not too much exciting going on in my life. When something big happens I do tend to mention it in my monthly wrap-up. In general though I just don’t feel like most of my readers are coming to my blog for posts about KPOP or anime no matter how much I enjoy those things. If I wanted to blog about those I think I’d just make a separate blog for those- but that’s just me!

I think it is definitely okay to not share everything with everybody! I mean I don’t do that in realy life either haha!
I also feel like that, I think most of my readers come on my blog for books, so why shghould I talk about other things haha!
This is a great topic! I know a lot of my friends do because they fear being doxxed for various reasons so they use fake names and stuff. For me, I have such a common name I’m not really worried too much about that, also I don’t feel like I can be anyone but myself! I like being genuine. 🙂
I can totally understand why people wouldn’t use their own names!
I actually feel the same as you!
I love when book bloggers post about other things. I don’t often, but I love to post about travel and music, too.
Same!
I didn’t answer this week’s prompt because I didn’t think I had that much to say either! I don’t post much about my personal life, but that’s a privacy thing. I’d say it’s because of my age and because I grew up in an era where Internet safety was taken seriously and you were not to post anything online publicly like your full name, age, address, school, photo, etc., but now everyone posts everything everywhere. There are people my age and older than me with all their information posted, so maybe I’m just a paranoid hold out. 😉
I mean, I’m even confused by the school yard signs that seem have suddenly become popular with your kid’s full name, school they attended, the year they’re graduating (so, age), and sometimes their photo. These things are in everyone’s yard, yet when I grew up you weren’t even supposed to write your name in chalk in the driveway or have it on your backpack in case some kidnapper could see it, know your name, and earn your trust by pretending they knew you! I guess times have changed. (And I’m not even that old.) 😀
I can see that, of you were always taught not to share those things, it can be hard to change those things!
