Top Five Tuesday – Authors to try!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads!

This week’s topic is Authors to try. As in every top 5 Tuesday post lately, there are so many! But some of the highest on my list are:

  1. Rebecca Roanhorse – Her recent release, Black Sun, is getting so much hype! I really want to check it out, but I want to start with her previous series, Trail of Lightning, first!
  2. Andrea Stewart – She only just released her first book, but The Bone Shard Daughter sounds so good!
  3. Donna Tartt – I just really want to read The Secret History, I just feel like I would love it, but it is a bit intimidating!
  4. Joe Aercrombie – His work is on so many best fantasy lists, I would just love to see for myself what I think about his work!
  5. John Gwynne – Honestly, all of his work sounds so good! I own Malice, so IK hope to read it soon!

Narrowing this down to just 5 proved to be really difficult..

  3. I really loved Trail of Lightning! I can’t wait to read Black Sun. I also want to check out The Bone Shard Daughter as I’ve heard great things about that one. 🙂

  4. Rebecca Roanhorse is definitely worth trying! I’m loving her Trail of Lightning series, but I gotta say Black Sun was in a whole other league. You can’t go wrong with starting with either! 🙂

  5. I recently bought Malice as well, and I got the audiobook for Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series, so hoping to try those authors this year as well!

  6. I loved the Rebecca Roanhorse books (although I haven’t read Black Sun yet, and haven’t felt all that drawn to it.) I think I’m the only person I know who didn’t love The Secret History, but I just wasn’t a fan. Let’s see, authors I want to try… Patrick Rothfuss, since I haven’t read The Name of the Wind yet. And I’m sure there are a bunch more on my TBR list that I’m just not thinking of right now!

  8. I seriously need to read some books by these authors too. I’m definitely hoping to read Bone Shard Daughter soon and I’m interested in both the Rebecca Roanhorse books that you mentioned. I hope that you get to read, and love, some books by all these authors soon.
    One author I definitely need to read something by soon is Marie Lu. I have no idea how I haven’t gotten to any of her books yet.

      Oh I have read some by Marie Lu, I enjoyed Warcross, but wasn’t a big fan of The Young Elites!

      1. Ah that’s a shame about Young Elites, it’s one of the ones I’m planning to read. Kingdom Of Back will probably be my first book of hers though.
