Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads!
This week’s topic is top five books I still haven’t read in 2021! There were definitely some books I planned to read in 2021, but I so far failed to.. So let’s list five of those:
- Malice by John Gwynne – I’m pretty sure I won’t read it this year, but I definitely plan to binge the whole series in the beginning of next year!
- The Secret History by Donna Tart – I might still read it this year?! Who knows haha
- Jade City by Fonda Lee – Another one I have plans for! Once the Illumicrate editions, I will binge them! Most probably in January 🙂 I’m so excited!
- The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons – This book sounds like everything I would love, so now I’m afraid I won’t like it so I’m just not reading it haha! But there is still time this year to read book one!
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir – This one sounds so good! I just left it until so late in the year since I wanted to read The Martian and Artemis first. And I still haven’t read Artemis..

I can’t talk about The Ruin of Kings. I have all 4 books that are out (some of them sent by the publisher) and I still haven’t started it. *cries in despiar*
Oops haha! I hope we both get to them next year!
I just picked up The Secret History the other day! Here’s hoping we both get to read it soon!
Wouldbe nice haha 🙂
I haven’t read the others, but I sure hope you get to Hail Mary – it’s a great one.
Goals for next year ahha!
Jade City is definitely on my list too!
It sounds so good! I hope we will both love it!
We are the same on The Ruin of Kings lol…haven’t we both been saying all year we were going to read it? Haha, but I also haven’t read Jade City yet. There is a bunch I haven’t read yet that I will probably push to 2022.
I’m pretty sure it was on my January TBR ahaha!
I can’t wait to receive my Illumicrate edition of Jade City, and dive in! (I say now, we will see when I actually read it haha!)
I fully planned to read The Hollow Heart by Marie Rutkoski, it was such an anticipated read. And I just… haven’t? I have no idea why.
I feel you on that! I really don’t know why I do not pick up certain books!
Oh… I have a long list of books I wanted to read and didn’t… Sigh… I wish I didn’t have to work!!
Ugh don’t we all!
I hope you get to read all of these soon. And I totally relate to being scared to pick up a book in case it lets you down.
I really want to get Empire Of The Vampire read before the end of the year. House Of Blood & Earth would be good too as the sequels out early next year. Oh and Midnight In Everwood because a nutcracker retelling feels perfect for this time of year.
I also meant to read The Raven Cycle but that’s going to have to be next year now…
Thanks!
Empire of the Vampire is amazing!
I haven´t heard about Mifnight in Everwood, but an Nutcracker retelling?! sounds interesting!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of it then. I’m definitely intrigued though. Plus one of my favourite bookstores did a beautiful special edition of it so I really couldn’t resist it
I have like 6 series I would like to complete but I will probably only get to half.
Good luck!
Oooh, hope you enjoy all of these! I’ve heard some amazing things about The Secret History, cannot wait to hear your thoughts! I really need to get to six of crows and the young elites, because everyone seems to have read them but me??
I love Six of Crows!
