My thoughts:
This book! It took me by surprise! I really wanted to read it since I heard so many great things, and I do want to get more into the horror genre, so this sounded like a great one to try out.
I expected to enjoy this one, but I didn’t think I would love it. And I definitely did, I just could not put it down, I was so invested in the story.
I really liked that Mari was such a ‘flawed’ character, this made her feel so much more real. Everyone makes mistakes, and has to deal with them. I liked that throughout the book she learned that some of her mistakes did not only influence her but also other people, and learns to apologize. But also that not everything after her mistake was because of her, other characters also had ‘problems’. (I don’t really know how to explain thing properly haha, especially without spoilers)
I was so involved in the (audio)book. At some point Mari screams ‘call 911’, and in my head I was screaming with her ‘go grab your phone, don’t just stand there’ hahah. It surprises me that I wasn’t saying it out loud haha
I was also just very intrigues with the story, I just needed to know what the fuck was happening. Every time I picked up the audiobook I listened for quite a while, since I just did not want to stop.
Previously I wasn’t really interested in the authors other work, like Monday is Not Coming, but now I feel like checking those out as well! She also has another YA horror coming later this year, which I definitely want to check out.
I don’t really know what else to say about this one. It was just really good, and if you’re into audiobook, I really recommend listening to this one!

I absolutely loved White Smoke! I’ve only read one other book by her, Grown, which I also loved! I’m excited for her next horror.
I kinda want to try that one as well!
